  1. Avoid like the plague!!! they are a sham set of companies under "Motorway Direct" their policy is designed to ensure you cannot make a claim the "wear and tear" clause is a get out of paying card, I made the mistake of having a policy with them not worth the paper it was written on. They give false information and then lie, I informed them my car displayed a gearbox fault then it cleared, their advice "drive the car and if it returns let us know", it did I contacted them, and their response was we wont pay because you drove the car with a fault so its your fault, then denied the conversation where they told me to drive the car!! I have them recorded so we will be suing them. Tried complaining to the Ombudsman but that "wear and Tear" clause gets them off the hook. Don't waste your money on these people, complete sham company.
  2. I had 2 policies with "car protect" owned by motorway direct, I am pursuing them through the FSA for refusing to pay out on my policy, they are an absolute sham of a company, they lie and use the "wear and tear" card to get out of paying, their policies are not worth the paper they are written on, avoid these companies like the plague. I rang for advice when a warning message appeared about my gearbox then cleared, they said "keep driving the car and if the fault returns let us know", it did I put in my claim and their response was it was my fault for driving the car with a fault!!! which is what they told me to do, utter waste of space, There customer service is a disgrace, if you do one thing this year avoid this company, hopefully they will go out of business soon before they swindle anyone else.
  3. Yes I have 2 warranties with them and they are not worth the paper they are written on, they make all these promises of how they will help, sell you a warranty on a 10 year old car then as soon as there is a problem they just state "wear and tear" and refuse to pay, save your money, I will be in future, im taking them to the Ombudsman because they lie and give you the wrong advice as well, rubbish.
  4. My Girlfriend & I have a joint current account for convienience as we have a house and children together, She applied to First direct for a personal loan, while she was on the phone to them i was requested by the first direct employee to come to the phpne and all my personal financial details interogated, i told her i wasnt appling for a loan my girlfriend was, she said because of our joint account my information was included in the application, My girlfriend bought a new car on finance last year with Barclays, they didnt ask about me or my finances. The problem is several years ago my credit card companies, MBNA Barclays and Halifax sent my card fees through the roof and i fought and secured 0% rates as long as i returned the cards, all was well, however Halifax decided to destroy my credit rating for the privilage. My Girlfriend has no store cards, credit cards and has a salary of over £35,000 PA and has never been refused credit before, however now she has, and been told not to apply again for 12 months and this will have a negative impact on her credit rating. I will be writting to the Bank to lodge a formal complaint and then its on to the FSA.
  5. I sold an item on ebay, my buyer paid £7.50 for it, then admitted by email she had made a mistake and didnt want it, she then claimed 30 days later that her card had been stolen, and the thief posing as her went on ebay and bought a childs swing (my item) then posed as her again to email me regarding postage, paypal who are owned by ebay refunded her the £7.50, then charged me £14.00 to cover the card issuers costs! I immeadiatley cancelled all conections between my bank and paypal so they couldnt take any funds, read the small print before you use them, if you want to sell on ebay you have to offer paypal because like i said ebay own them and want the fees, if you buy on ebay pay by cheque, paypal is not safe.
  6. HI, You should the Banks dont like it at all, and it costs them as they have to pay for the investigation if they want to be in the finance business, its the law. Write to the FSA and enclose copies of letters details of threatening behaviour harrasment etc.......its worth getting it logged, Barclays change in attitude was amazing, talk about back peddle!!!! i enjoyed cashing their cheque!
  7. HI All, I contacted Halifax middle of last year regarding my credit card, i was responsible and told them about my difficulties, they were very helpfull, they arranged a payment plan and i thought that was that, what they didnt tell me was that they would be acruing the difference between my agreed payment and the minimum payment over the following 6 months then send me a default notice out of the blue for the whole amount right before Christmas, nice!! this has reduced my credit file to ashes, as they logged every payment i made as per their instructions as late or missed!!!! After many letters and complaints to a multitude of PO boxes i have now been informed Blair Oliver & Scott have taken over the account. I was however informed by Halifax that this would be better for me as i would no longer be charged interest or charges on this account, and that they would have to honour any agreement made by the Halifax. So i recieved my first threatening letter from them demanding the whole balance in one payment, right, ok, so ive written to them and Halifax asking them to get together and acknowledge my agreed payment plan. Mean while following this behaviour from the Halifax i have refered the matter to the FSA for not informing me of their intentions to destroy my credit history, Halifax really are a say one thing do another company, i now wont entertain phone calls as they lie, as ive caught them out several times already. The way i look at it is like this, its business, they try to make it personal so you feel guilt, DONT!!, i just keep telling myself how much these banks have had from the public purse following their total failures, do you think the Goverment are sending doorstep collectors to the head office of Halifax demanding 80 billion quid back in one payment, i dont think so, so why should we. Im finding the FSA helpfull but very slow, won a case against Wescott / Barclays last month but took 8 months, the main point of that case was they threatened to come to my home where i have 2 young children, the FSA didnt like that at all!!!
  8. Hi, several months ago i contacted Halifax to advise them i was having difficulties, they asked me to complete a means test form which i did and we agreed a lower monthly payment. when i recieved my statements it stated that i have failed to make a minimum payment, i rang them up and they said dont worry it was computor generated and that i should stick to my agreement which i did. One month a paid a bit extra and was advised by Halifax not to do this as it would result in additional interest payments, a week ago i recieved a default notice stating i had to pay 817 pounds, this was the accrued difference between the old min payments and my agreed lower payments, they never told me they were doing this. the Halifax stated to me they had to do this and pass it to a 3rd party under credit law and not to worry as the credit collection firm would honour any agreement i had with Halifax. They rang me at home tonight, admitted it was not law but their policy, and generally denied any agreement stating it was informal, i asked why enter into an agreed lower payment plan if your going to save up the difference and ask for it all in one go, that didnt make sense, i havent had the money for months why would they think i would have it now, ive sent a CCA request and a Data protection request to see what they have got. Ive advised them i will continue to honour the agreement i made with them and that i will not deal with any third party, see what happens next, i want to get the negative entries removed from my credit file, it states late payment, i havnt paid late just a lower amount agreed by them, any suggestions please, thanks.
  9. Dear all,I wish i had found this site 6 months ago, i have now begun proceedings against Barclays, theatened to send bailiffs round my house for an old Woolwhich account that was 7 years old, refused to send any account details, MBNA as they now have me paying over 34% on my credit card, Halifax for defaulting me on my credit card even though i have an agreement to make lower payments, and Halifax again for £1300 in overdraft fees this year! i am going to make these thieves my mission in life!!!!! everyone in the country should be doing this, its gone on to long and needs to stop!! Oh and by the way, when they advise you to manage your finances better just remind them that if it wasnt for the Goverment bailing them out with BILLIONS of our money they would all be on the dole!!!!! instaed of looking forward to a big fat bonus, Merry Christmas to all.
