  1. well, we offered them 150, and have just received a letter stating they wouldn't accept it. (i can scan the letter and post it on here if anybody interested as in this letter they say they dont need cc licence) my gf wants to pay as she doesn't want to be involeved in this anymore. i guess i would feel the same. if you've done something wrong you just want to forget about it and move on, so we'll just pay.. i feel quite angry about RLP and about the govermental bodies who allow their existance.. it is very wrong that some people commit crimes such as theaft, but there is police in our society to deal with it, and the police should issue fines, not parasites like RLP thank you for all you help and advice
  2. well, the thing is that in their letter they say if my gf doesn't pay within 21 days, they will take legal actions..
  3. Dear All, Thank you for all your replies and advice. We did write to RLP offering to pay a reasonable amount, but haven't had any reply back. Shall we pay the full amount or shall we phone them?
  4. i am going to send them an email on behalf of my gf and make them an offer to pay not including the value of the goods. do you think i should mention in my email that they don't have a licence to be acting as debt collectors ? (i went on their website and there is no info on whether they do or dont have the licence)
  5. hi there my girlfriend shoplifted from Boots a few days ago:evil: she has just told me now that she was caught by the security there, she admitted and signed the paper stating that she stole the goods to the value of £135. (the police was called in, and she was given a caution at the station). she's just been made redundant aswell and i am worried how much can they recover from her? would be grateful if anybody answers.. today we have received a letter from RLP Ltd. (Retail Loss Prevention Limited - About Us) stating that she has to pay 323.50! they break it down as follows: value of un-recovered (or unfit for resale goods: £135 staff management time investigating and/or dealing with the incident: 112.50 admin cost resulting from wrongful actions: 34 appointed security and surveillance costs: 42 i wouldn't argue with anything apart from "value of un-recovered/unfit for resale goods". they did recover everything! and the goods were not damaged! any ideas how to argue about it with RLP? thank you
  6. thank you for your comments and advice. although she's never done anything like that before (she hasn't had any cautions or fines etc.), and the theft was under £200, police officer did take her to the station and as a result a formal caution was given. today we have received a letter from RLP Ltd. 7. she says it was a police officer who took her to the station, then the same officer interviewed her. her foto and fingerprints were taken , and she was told she was cautioned. does this mean that she has a criminal record now? i can't understand what's going on as wasn't given any paper by the police. she was only given notice by the shop saying that they will take civil recovery actions.. she's so upset and i am so angry, we'll just wait how much they want and then if it is reasonable, will pay.. as she did do wrong
  8. She doesn't know if it was a simple caution or conditional caution as nobody gave her any documents. but she did have her foto and fingerprints taken at the station. her age is 26 and she is still stupid to do things like shoplifting:evil:
  9. store security told her that they did have cctv prove but she didn't see it.. she was given a caution by the police ( i don't know if it resulted in criminal record , but she had her foto and fingerprints taken ), so do you thing this would effect if we decide to take them to court ?
