  1. ino some debt collectors can be harsh and the power (they think they have) goes to their head BUT harrassing these people really isnt the answer to be honest. some of them are complete idiots but theres still some nice people that work there.
  2. hi- ive been reading through these forums about dca's and some of the advice is so silly, ignoring a debt is the worst thing you can do. i dont mean in your case as its not your debt. i do agree with the others that you shouldnt have opened the mail and from now on send it back but by law if you ring a dca as a 3rd party and tell them its not your debt they have to RMDLR which is remove from dialler which removes your number permantly from the dialling system and also ICUGA which is an incoming call unconfirmed gone away. this then shoots the address to the trace department who will then get back to the client and inform them its a wrong address and they will find other goverment ways of tracking the person. if you have advised the dcas that it is a wrong number + address therefore it is an unconfirmed gone away and they can NOT come round to your house nor can they save your details. hope that helped
  3. Hi- if your looking for a settlement for these debts ask the dca what percentage they can give you off the debt. they will start off with a low amount eg. 5% depending on which collector you get (some being harsh some being a push over). you need to sort out an amount that you can afford. the dca may ask you to send in and income and expend for them to beable to recieve low payments. some dca's do try and make the urgency of a SIF (settlement in full) over the top but there is never a date a SIF has to be paid by. hope that helps you, any Qs ill be happy to help
  4. heya noodle, basically iQor don't have to send you a confirmation letter of the agreement, if you do wish to take the card details from the account you need to ring up and they will remove them from the dialler straight away. if you are happy paying the £40 a month which was agreed, you can ask IQor for thier standing order details so you can do it through your partners bank. If you do wish for it to be taken via card iQor do not do a direct debit so the agent will either ring you or your partner will ring in on the day of the month you have arranged to pay on and make the £40 payment. if you do not wish the company to store the details just tell them, or you can save them so its easier next time. they will NOT take anymore money than agreed from the account because for one it will show on the bank statement anyway and for two its against the law. CSA is a tricky one because they were in a bit of a mess, but it is a goverment debt so it will never go away. basically if your parntner sticks to the arrangment made (every 90 days IQor will ring to try and get an uplift on the £40) he will pay then debt off and bobs your uncle its over. sorry that was a long one, just didnt think you were getting the right advice because by cutting your card up dosnt solve anything it just makes you have to get a new one, when all you have to do is remove it and i can promise you they will take it off.
