  1. Hi there, just looking for a bit of assistance if you can ....... I had mortgage with Woolwich (now Barclays) from 1997 to 2008. Following relationship break-up I found myself in arrears with my mortgage on a couple of occassions. Obviously during these times, arrears charges were debited to the account. Family helped me out on a number of occassions until the I sold the property and redeemed the mortgage in full. I approached Barclays intimating that I would like to make a claim for excessive mortgage arrears charges / interest charged to the account and they came back to me and said that as the £40 monthly arrears charge was advised on the original terms and conditions of the mortgage when taking it out and also on the reverse of every letter issued to me then they would not be taking my claim any further ..... Is this correct - should I just forget pursuing any claim ? thanks for your time
  2. Hi there, I redeemed a mortgage with Woolwich in 2008. I'd had the mortgage for just short of 12years. Following a relationship break-up I continually struggled to make ends meet and at times had substantial arrears on my mortgage. Family helped me out at various points. Anyway, having read some Threads on here I thought I'd make an attempt at trying to get back some of the mortgage arrears fees / charges that had been added to my account. Having submitted a claim to Barclays (who took over Woolwich) I've been advised that they've investigated my claim but since the £40 monthly arrears fee was advised on the Mortgage Terms and Conditions provided at the outset of taking out the mortgage and on the reverse of every piece of correspondence issued, they will not be looking at my claim any further........ Is this correct - should I just take this as thats it or do I have the right to take it further ? thanks for your time everyone
  3. Hi there, I had a mortgage with Woolwich from October 1997 to July 2008. At the time of initially taking out the mortage in was in joint names with a former partner. When we split up in 1999, the mortgage was transferred into my sole name. We had a child so he contributed to the mortgage and that together with my salary and WFTC I was able to pay everything. Payments from my ex suddenly stopped and overtime got cut in work etc... so the problems began where some months i didnt have enough to cover mortgage payments. This coupled with problems with the Tax Credits just make the situation worse. I then lost my job and was out of work for about 3 - 4 months. I always contacted the mortgage provider and kept them aware of the position and made payments, albeit some of them werent for the full amount. Eventually I sold the property and redeemed the mortgage in full. However, throughout the time when I was struggling there were continuall charges being applied to the account - £40 per month. At one point they also transferred the account to Litigation and I incurred a charge for this. There were also other additional charges for letters etc... I've written to Woolwich and asked them for copies of all documentation they hold pertaining to my account whch I've received today - delivered by DHL no less ?! Anyway, having a look through it, there are a lot of charges that I just want to know can I try and reclaim these back from Woolwich - now Barclays ? If I can, can anyone maybe point me in the right direction of how I should do this - is it better that I get a third party Agency on board to help ? Thanks for your time everyone Nov1974
  4. Hi everyone, I redeemed my mortgage and 2nd security in 2008. Yesterday I saw an advert. in a Shopping Centre, for reclaiming mis-sold PPI / bank & credit card charges and it stated it included secured loans. I didnt want to stop and speak with the representative that was there but just wondered if this was possible. If fees / charges can be reclaimed on secured loans ? Look forward to hearing from anyone thanks
  5. Hi there, I (stupidly) took out an HP agreement for a car with Welcome in July 2002. Agreement was £189 over 48months. I exercised my right to hand the car back once I'd paid more than 2/3rds and in fact was within two months of the agreement completing (June 2006) At that time the car was 9years old and worth probably no more than about £400 / £500. There were a few small cosmetic issues but definately nothing mechanical. Welcome arranged the car to be uplifted from me. Received communication from Welcome in probably October / November 2006 stating I owed them just over £1500 ? When asking what this was for I was never given a definitive answer and was told that they would send me a statement - needless to say that statement never arrived and I heard nothing further from them. Since then I have moved house. In April 2010 (some 4-years later) out of the blue a letter arrived from MKRR chasing me for this £1500. Continueal telephone calls to MKRR and their "standard computer generated letters" ensued and each time I requested a statement or something in black and white which showed how I could possibly owe £1500 - each time I was told that they had requested this from Welcome but hadnt received it and would continue to receive these computer generated letters until I set up an agreement - I advised I wasnt prepared to do this until I knew what it was that I was supposed to be paying for. This went on with MKRR until probably about July this year. Then no communication until today when I've received two phone calls on my mobile and one at work from a company call Raven Recoveries advising that if I dont make an offer to pay they will send an Agent to my home ?! HELP ............
  6. Got my redemption figure in this morning and its £16,160 ...... which I'm just hoping is correct. they've included a breakdown on the back which doesnt appear to include any charges however ...... I've e-mailed them to ask if this includes all monies due in respect of any penalties so i'll see what they come back with ......
  7. I know this will probably sound like a silly question but I'll ask anyway ..... I take it the redemption figure will include all the penalty charges that they're saying are owed ? Thanks again for your time, I appreciate it !!
  8. Thanks for your time. I've requested a redemption statement which they've told me this morning has been issued in the post today. I'll keep you posted......
  9. Hi there, just looking for a bit of advice please ..... I took out a loan with Swift in August last year. Loan amount was £12,500 over 7-years. There was a mix up, ie - i thought the first payment was due end of September when it was due end of August so that was one month overdue. I opened a new bank account with another bank in December and requested a new direct debit mandate be issued. This was received, completed and returned. No payment was taken from the account in December. I contacted them and they said they hadnt received the completed DD mandate so issued another one. This again was completed and returned to them. I agreed to up my payments by some £50 or so to pay off the outstanding premiums. Once again, no payment was taken from my account for January's payment. I contacted them yet again to be advised they still had my old bank details on file and that a default has been lodged against my credit file and will stay there for 6-years and they need an instant payment today to cover the missed payments. I tried to explain the background but the girl said the default was lodged and that was that. I'm just about to put my house on the market and clear my mortgage and swift loans. I've requested a redemption statement from them but I can see from other users that they charge you for this statement and i'm concerned about the other charges too that they'll be applying. Can anyone advise me what I should be looking out for ? Thank you, Nov1974
