  1. Hi all, I am hoping there is someone on here who can advise me accordingly on an unusual situation i have found myself in. In 2004, i defaulted on 4 accounts, which to cut a long story short have all been settled for some time now, the last one being vodafone in january 2007. Having returned from abroad, i noticed vodafone on my credit report and immediately called them. Vodafone identified the account in question, and informed me that the outstanding amount on the account was £46- I paid this immediately over the phone. Several weeks later they confirmed this in writing- I replied to this letter asking them if they would be so kind as to remove the default from my credit report: This they did. All was well since Jan 07. ALL OF A SUDDEN after all this time (have also been keeping regular weekly tabs on my credit report),i receive a letter from red debt collection services, informing me that vodafone have 'sold' my debt of £71 to them, and that i needed to contact them to sort this out. STUNNED! According to all my credit reports, the defaulted amount was settled in january 2007-Yet despite this, vodafone have no record of the payment every being made, despite me giving them the details off my bank statement. Red Debt dont want to know-they just want the money. I have this evening purchased my credit report from another agency (i now have all 3) which state that the vodafone isue was settled in jan 2007. total outstanding-£0. How can vodafone lose a payment like this? i had thought i put all my troubles behind me i am rebuilding my credit superbly and have no debt anymore(im actually saving every month now and am in credit on all bills!). Yet despite this, out of the blue a random letter from these people arrives. My fiancee and i have turned the house upside down looking for the letter they sent me confirming the bill was paid: cant find it anywhere, as we have moved house since 2007. I do however have all the transaction details, the date, the card used, AND my credit reports confirming the default was removed and payment was settled. What do i do now?! This company worries me- i can find no website for them, and they werent particularly understanding on the phone either. Any help would be graciously received. Thanks guys.As always.
  2. A GLASWEGIAN debt collection company? LOL whatver next??!! Further to the entry above, in which the originating writer stated the woman asked me if he had a licence to record her over the phone- This is CRAP!- You do not need a licence to record someone over the phone!?! It is perfectly legal,PROVIDING you inform them they are being recorded at the beginning of the call-Hence why every business has that statement played back through their automated systems, PRIOR to connecting your call to an operator- What a bunch of numpties- Im glad i dont have any dealings with them. How can you be so sure of who they are when they PHONE you instead of WRITE to you?! About matters like this? Clearly a shoddy company, with Anuses for brains.:-|:-|
  3. To all the Abbey customers in here who have had problems with them- The solution is simple: Move to another bank which is gobally recognised- HSBC/Barclays/Natwest. These are global banks whos card systems work far better than a frivolous shoddy uk bank like Abbey- I too was with Abbey, and like you guys, I TOO had my card stopped during holiday- having withdrawn 50 quid on my first day! I was left for 2 weeks with no cash, and kept all receipts. When i got back to the UK, i too was faced with the levels of customer service highlighted here- However, having got noweher with them, i then took legal advice,AND action against them- Abbey could not substantiate the incident, nor could they justify it, and instead then turned corner and blamed it on a 'system error'. Having received the summons for the court date, they apologised profusely, and repaid IN FULL all the amounts that holiday cost me in credit card bills. They are CRAP, and would steer well clear of them- It is not through sheer luck they have found their way onto WATCHDOG either! Whilst i sympathise with you all, remaining with Abbey after they have treated you like this, will undoubtably give this brainless bank another opportunity to do it to you again. I have since transferred over to HSBC- and have NEVER had a SINGLE problem with them whatsoever- I did have to call them once from abroad, but they realised form my call i was not in the UK, and called me straight back, dealing with my problems IMMEDIATELY. Now thats service.
  4. Hi all, Although i drive, i use the bus to get to work as its easier than driving and cheaper.. However on severa occasions lately, i have found that bus drivers refuse to let me/others on, if we try to pay for a ticket, when THEY dont have enough change to give us.. Is this legal?! An all day ticket is 3.50 where i live- And i have had it in the past where i have tried to pay with a fiver, and all i have got back is 'sorry aint got no change, cant let you on, youll have to go change it, and catch the next one'. All well and good- but the next one isnt coming for another 20 mins, and THAT would make me late for work!?!?!?!? Does anyone know of my rights with this?Surely if i have enough money to pay for my ticket, its the bus companys problem if they havent got change, and thus shouldnt refuse me boarding as the problem is on their side?! I have checked the companys rules on their website all it states is 'please try to have the correct change', it says nothing about being refused boarding.... Anyone any ideas??
  5. Hi guys! I am new to the forum but was browsing through when i saw this thread about intrum justicia. I have had numerous dealings with them, in particular when Virgin Media set them onto us for supposedly failing to pay a bill- when our accounts were still active, the services still being delivered, and the money going out by direct debit! In my experience with this company,i would strongly suggest to anyone who has dealings with them to stand your ground and fight it out if you believe you have cause to.. They are a debt collection agency amongst other things- and as such they operate as one-threatening letters, uncompasisnate call handlers etc.. whatever it takes to get YOUR money!. I congratulate the write of the letter within this thread. Its fantastically written and a brilliant counter threat to put the wind up them. In my experience in the past, these collection companies ppray on peoples ignorance of consumer credit law to get money out of them.In part, their operations include reliance on the naivety that not everyone they threaten will know the law or their options, and as such can be tricked or frightened into paying up. Whats more, Intrum Justicia was last night featured on BBC Ones Watchdog, over the way that it handled supposed debt collections on behlaf of Brittania Music ltd, the online company which folded earlier this year.. The compaints highlighted within Watchdog are disturbingly identical to the cases highlighted here- Intrum Justicia sending out threatening letters, which contain no proof, or evidence of the debt. This is NOT correct! And im glad that someone is standing up to them. The letter is FANTASTIC and will warrant a meticulous reply frm the company jobsworths rather than a standard pc generated template letter, which they send out all the time. I will follow this thread with eagerness for the outcome! Well done again.
