  2. Thank you for your replies. He checked his credit file a few months ago on the free check and there was 0 accounts on there and his credit score was 960. The letter was addressed to him, but says inside the letter if you are not Mr xxxxx or he is no longer resident at this address then please call this number to let us know.
  3. My husband has received a letter off a company called 1st Credit asking him to ring regarding a personal matter and that our address has been supplied for him. He has emailed and asked what it is about but they are asking for him to confirm his address & phone number (which we havnt done just told them to communicate by email) my husband has not had anything on credit since 2007 so we have no idea what its for. Does anyone know who this company collects for please?
  4. My mum won her tribunal on the 26th March but has yet to receive her ESA or backdated payments which go back almost 1 year. Everytime she rings they say they have a backlog or there is nothing on the system. It is almost 2 months and she does not know what she can do. Any advice please.
  5. Thank you everyone for your help. Just had a phone call from the council to say they are recalling the debt from Jacobs and that we can pay £10 per week standing order! Really pleased they took notice of our letter and dealt with it quickly. Thanks again
  6. Thank you for all your advice. I have today sent letters to both the council and Jacobs including all the info I have been given on here.
  7. Thank you for your reply. This has made me feel so much better. I will write back to the council with copies of my medical records and they know that our income has significantly dropped as we have recently been award HB and CTB for this year.
  8. Hi, thanks for your reply. No they do not have a levy as we have never let them in our home.
  9. I really need some advice regarding our council tax debt that was passed on to Jacobs last year please. I will start by explaining how this come about. We were liable for 75% of our council tax and was paying weekly until I became ill and got the devastating news that I had an aggressive form of cancer in early 2011. Due to the many hospital appointments, plus surgery, radiotherapy and stress we just kept forgetting to make the payments, eventually it was passed to Jacobs. The bailiff came out and my husband explained the situation and he was understanding and left on the condition we pay £25 per week. This was affordable at the time but then my treatment caused side effects that I was no longer able to drive and he had to reduce his hours in work in order to take the children to and from school. At the time we were able to claim working tax credits, however due to the new rules that came about at the beginning of this April we no longer qualified for WTC and so lost £74 per week. We just cannot pay £25 a week to Jacobs. Fortunately I am now in remission but suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks and have been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder. Today I rang Jacobs to explain our situation and offer them £10 per week and the advisor was really rude and unhelpful. She said if we didnt bring the account up to date and carry on with the £25 per week the bailiff would remove our goods in 4 days. I told her that I had been ill and suffer from anxiety attacks and threats of bailiffs is only making me more ill - her reply was "thats just your opinion" I have rang the council and asked them to recall the debt so I can pay them and they said they cannot . I just dont know what to do, its not that I dont want to pay, we just cant pay as much anymore. Can someone advise me please?
  10. Thats great thanks! I`ll do a copy today.
  11. I have 3 credit cards, vanquis and capital one that I have had for around 2 yrs and a barclaycard for 1 yr, I only ever pay the minimum payment but at the moment I am really struggling to pay that. It is £100 per month combined. Is there anyway I can arrange token payments with them and freeze the interest as the debt on them has hardly gone down. I have payment protection on one of them (vanquis), but I am still working but only a few hours a week and they wont let me use the PP unless I am unemployed. Any advice please?

  14. I know I said I would never deal with these type of companies again after my bad experience with welcome, but I am desperate for a car and have been refused finance with all the "normal" finance companies despite having no defaults/ccj`s. I have been accepted over the phone with approved car finance and was wondering if anyone has any positive dealings with these? They have told me to visit the showroom, but I am a bit wary as I went to Yes car credit with a friend about 10 years ago and we felt like we had been kidnapped for the day lol ! Any advice please? Oh and the apr quoted was 26.4%
  15. Woo Hoo! It gets better....Just checked my credit file and Welcome have removed all details of my account with them, not marked as settled or anything just completely removed!
