  1. As I've said, Paypal only cover for 108 days - I called them. What next?
  2. Dear all, I purchased aquarium light on 25th February 2019 off Ebay. The light no longer works (continually flashing). I have contacted the seller but have had no reply. I bought using Paypal who inform me they only cover for 108 days and I believe Ebay buyer protection lasts only 30 days. I think that the item should last a lot longer than this. My question is: do I have any recourse here? can I get a refund? Thank you for your help in advance.
  3. The item cost £110. I tried to raise a case through Ebay but cant as its over the 3 months, same with Paypal. So where do I stand legally and how to proceed? Cheers
  4. Hello, I purchased an audio recording interface 5 months ago on Ebay from a business seller. It has a fault in the audio output. The seller is aware of the particular problem but says it only happens occasionally on certain computers and he's not exactly sure why. He seemed to indicate that its probably not the unit but rather the compatibility with my computer. However, my computer has all the system requirements stated for the unit. He said I wouldn't be able to get a refund. He advised me to try a different USB port and cable (which I have done) but the problem is still there. I see this as a 'not fit for purpose' issue and therefore I should be able to obtain a refund. What do you think? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...
  5. No they didnt contact me for the £43 first. I just cant imagine they would take me to court for £143! At worst I think I'd be looking at a CCJ thats all. I just want to know if anyone else has been in a similar situation and just refused to pay. If so, what was the outcome?
  6. Hi, yes no income at all now. Do you think I will get a CCJ? Thanks
  7. Dear all, I had some NHS dental treatment whilst believing I was in receipt of JSA. However the DWP had stopped my claim without informing me. Consequently I have been hit with paying £43 for the treatment and a £100 penalty charge. I am no longer on any benefits and have no income whatsoever. My question is: What if I just don't pay the £143? Are they likely to take me to court for that amount? What would be the likely outcome of my refusal? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks for the posts so far, all great info!
  9. Hello, I went to sign at the Job Centre last Friday 8th April 2016 and was told that my claim had been ended. The adviser said that they had sent me a letter out on 23rd February 2016 requiring me to attend the Job Centre on the 31st March 2016. I told them that I had not received such letter and so was not aware of the request. The adviser suggested I do a rapid reclaim. I tried to do a rapid reclaim at on the internet and the DWP indicated that my area code requires me to claim Universal Credit now. So it looks like I will lose 8 days of my JSA plus a weeks 'waiting' for the Universal Credit as they don't pay for the first 7 days! Therefore I stand to lose at best 15 days of benefit. Do You think they are trying it on? I would greatly appreciate any advice you could give on this matter. Thank you, Nigel
  10. Yes its only £6.99 but as a consumer I just want to make sure they are acting according to the law and not in a disengenuous manner thus preventing others from being deceived in the future. It would seem that their reply was to confuse and to state that they are not breaking consumer law. I will see if I can recoup my money via PayPal. Thanks for you advice so far.
  11. Just to clarify, they have refunded me the cost of the item minus £6.99 for their postage to me. They advertised the postage as free. From what I have read, it seems that they should refund me in total without any deductions.
  12. I paid the return postage. The quote in italics on my initial post was the reply they sent to me in reponse to my query. So how should I go about making this demand? What law can I quote? How would I word my respone? Thanks, Nigel
