  1. No they can't! My old card is cancelled so any pending payments will be cancelled. My new card has a completely new number. But thanks for registering on this site to come up with this load of old cobblers!! If Wentworth want to contact me, they can. I tried to phone them but they never answer the phone. The moral of the story to everyone on here is; AVOID WENTWORTH DIRECT FINANCE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!
  2. Hi DX, What they have repaid is all my PPI payments from 2002 plus 8% interest. I calculated it all before I wrote to them as I know what evil so and so's they can be and it was correct. I guess what they mean by "if we owe you any more, we'll sent it on to you" is any compensation for the mis-selling.
  3. Greeting fellow Caggers! Been away for a while but back again to hopefully help others. Here's the tale of my continuing struggle against the dark forces known as Citi Financial. when I applied for my Associates card back in 2002, I was told that I couldn't have the card unless I took out PPI. A clear case of mis selling. I wrote to them saying "I want my money back". Do you know what they did? They only paid up without a fight! "Sorry, have your money back. If, after the judicial review we owe you any more, we'll send it on to you" How dare they just cough up like that! I wanted another fight with them! Oh well, another victory to me!
  4. Hello folks! I just got suckered in by these gits! However, because I am a sneaky little so and so, I gave them my debit card number and told them to take it out next Friday (13th!) What a shame I have just "lost" my debit card and have had to cancel it. Boo hoo, no money for you!!! The moral of the story is, do your homework first on ANY loan company and if something is too good to be true, it's a rip off. Here endeth the lesson. I'm off to whip myself for falling for it in the first place.
  5. Hi Penfold, I have been through the contract a few times to try and find out where they're coming from. I am responsible for small works. Oiling hinges, changing locks, things like that but there is nothing specific about water leaks. The bill states; "Recharge - contractor callout for report of leak. No fault found" Obviously there was a fault. Otherwise how do you explain the water damage to the floor? I shall take your advice and contact the CAB. Mike
  6. Evening everyone, I'm a bit confused this weekend. More than usual! Last year, we came downstairs to find a pool of water in the hallway. We sent an email to the housing association we rent from and informed them of the problem. We cleared it up but the water went through the floor tiles and parquet flooring lifting them and swelling up the wood. About a week later, a contractor came round to have a look. He couldn't find where the leak had come from but he suspected that it came from the radiator. He came round about a week afterwards to refit the floor tiles. Very shocked on Saturday when we were sent a £200 bill for the work! The contractor spent less than 5 minutes on his first visit so it's hardly surprising he didn't find anything wrong. I found the problem myself a couple of days after the tiles had been refitted. There was a tiny crack at the bottom of the thermostat that got bigger as the hot water went through. I got a new thermostat at my own expense. What I would like to know is, can the housing association bill me for this work? It's obvious we did have a water leak and it's hardly our fault that the contractor couldn't find the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated. Mike
  7. Hmmmmm, Strange things are happening with my Citi account. Got my statement at the beginning of December but didn't open it today. I have had an £88.81 "interest adjustment" paid into the account leaving me a 16p balance! I can't get any sense out of Citi as to what this payment is for. What I do know is that once the 16p is paid, my account will be closed. Any ideas what they're up to? Mike
  8. Well, that didn't go too well. Just back from Court and the Judge has upheld the stay. He is saying that even though my claim is against a credit card company, the test case will still have implications on my claim. He also said that the test case is to be heard early next year and if he lifted the stay, my claim wouldn't be heard until early next year. A crap argument in my opinion. Never mind. This just makes me more determined to carry on. Going back to bed now!!!
  9. Good news everyone! I have to go to court next wednesday (5th) to argue why the stay on my claim should be lifted. The judge has specifically asked that I attend to argue my case and by the sounds of things, this could affect any other stays on credit card claims!! I need as much ammunition as I can get, so if you have a really good reason why this should be lifted, let me know. Also, my judge has said that a HH Judge Iain Hughes at Winchester CC had a lot of applications for stays to be removed and my judge is going on what he said. Does anyone know what was actually said. If I know in advance what the judge in my case is thinking, I may be able to change his mind. Thanks in advance! Mike
  10. Hello folks, No news yet on my appeal against the stay being put on my claim but thought I'd let you all know that I haven't given up! Had to send the appeal off again as the court hadn't received it. I sent the second one recorded so I'm waiting again. I'll keep you up to date with any developments. Mike
  11. It may have been an honest mistake but I need the money they have taken! I called them yesterday morning and explained what had happened. They said the credit card machine and the till matched exactly so two payments haven't been taken. I phoned the bank and asked them what to do. They said to wait until Monday or Tuesday. Although two payments have been allocated, they haven't been collected yet. I was told to see how many payments get collected. One will probably "drop away" and not get collected. It still makes me skint for the weekend!
  12. Hello Barnsley Boy, The ticket says "Civil Penalty Notice" at the top. There's nothing on there about the council. I guess this is what you mean by a private parking ticket.
  13. Sweet as a nut Enron! I'm still waiting to hear about my appeal for the general stay to be removed from my case. The judge in your letter makes a good point about this. Had to laugh yesterday. I got a letter from a fake debt collector yesterday (it's actually Citi playing silly buggers but looks scary!) Phoned them to let them know that the court case was still going ahead and you aint getting a penny from me, but I'm getting lots from you! Any news on the OFT v Fascist Pig Banks? Mike
  14. Hello! The wife and I popped round to Matalan in Exeter today. As I pulled into the car park in front of the store, a large van was blocking the sign saying that the car park was a pay and display. When we came back, the car had a ticket on it. £40, or £20 if we pay within 10 days. However, there isn't a "date of issue", just the date. Is this valid? I can't believe that a shop car park is now pay and display!!
  15. Hi everyone, Just got back from the optician today. £225! :o I'd rather have the world all blurry but I guess I need them! Turns out they have charged me twice on my debit card. The girl said that the first transaction hadn't gone through so she did it again. After checking with my bank, the first transaction had gone through! Grr!! I realise now I should have kept the first receipt but she threw it away. I'm back tomorrow to pick them up and try and sort it out.
