  1. I have worked in the I.T sector and have some concerns regarding smart meters, particularly if or when the data servers are hacked and criminals obtain information, such as when very low energy use occurs and tie this up with the property being empty. I also wonder if using an electronic device outside a property and applying Fourier transform might achieve the same result
  2. Hi outfoxthemarket want to nearly double my direct debit during the winter months despite me being in credit if oftm change my direct debit structure can I treat this as a change in contract and avoid exit fees. Thank you
  3. Thank you for your replies I paid by paypal, i contacted the seller stating my intended actions and they have agreed to send another item, I wait to see if it arrives. I will certainly try to ascertain in future which sellers use myhermes and avoid them.
  4. Hi I ordered a staple gun from ebay, which never arrived, myhermes being the courier company. I informed the seller that i had never received the item, they said the item had been delivered and a signature obtained. The date of delivery was when both myself and my wife were at home all day and nobody came to my door. I asked the seller for proof of delivery, who emailed me the myhermes slip which had in the signature box not a signature as such but a series of loops. (whoever tried to sign would not know my signature because only my first and last name were on the delivery slip) I informed the seller and ebay that nobody delivered to our premises and the signature was fraudulent. Needless to say both him and ebay were not interested . During this time my wife had a delivery to our address from the myhermes lady, being i live in a small town she is the sole myhermes agent. I questioned her about the staple gun and she admitted that the delivery of my wifes handbag that day was the first time she had visited my house and that she had been the myhermes agent for my area for some time. I know the value of the item is not great but the fraud part and imagining more of this is occurring makes me want to take action. I have contacted myhermes by phone but they will not discuss this event with me and tell me to contact the seller and ebay are useless. I am thinking about making a small claim against this but i am wondering if it should be against the seller or myhermes. Thank you
  5. My lad who moved out before xmas has received a letter for me at his new address from a, as yet unknown to me dca.Concerning an account of some time ago relating to an unproven (forms filed etc) credit agreement. The worry part of all this is that my boys girlfriend whos mother works for a county council, insisted that I contacted this dca, despite my advice to her to return the letters in the post as not at this address. The web site of said dca looked amateurish and rang some alarm bells,on contacting them the person on the other end of the phone was vague, had no details of me, requested details of my dob, previous addresses, wifes details etc to which I did not respond and put the phone down. To my amazement my lad then rang me and said his girlfriend had been talking to the same dca at the same time, who had told her that I had put the phone down. Now I smell something fishey going on here and would be grateful if anybody could inform me a way as to ascertain if this dca is legit and registered with the fsa. I have never lived at my lads address or to be honest ever known what it was. Any comments most appreciated
  6. Many thanks for the reply, I thought this issue had been resolved with ntl and moorcroft some years ago Email received from ntl, names blanked out by me Dear xxxxxxxx, Thank you for your email. I have reviewed your account and can appreciate your concerns. I can confirm that your account is now showing as disconnected and I am in the process of arranging for the balances to be removed by the team who disconnected you so you are not liable for anything. You should receive a final invoice detailing this after the 27th of July and should you have any further queries before July 27th you can contact me on 0800 052 5612 extension 2160, or via email to [email protected] . Kind Regards xxxx xxxxx Credit Control Customer Retention 0800 052 5612 Ext. 2160 Quite some time passed then I started to receive threats from Moorcroft My reply to ntl Hi xxxxx Thank you for the email Today 11th August 2006 I have received a letter which seems to have been passed onto a debt recovery service Moorcoft Pre-Court division.I would appreciate if you could look into this please as I have not received the final invoice as such, and I think they are now including current monthly charges of £34.99, where they get these figures from bewilders me as we have never had anything else but your 2 meg broadband service for a long time. Thank you I never did receive the final invoice Moorcroft then ceased to pursue this and I thought it had all ended It seems virgin media are reopening old messed up ntl accounts in their pursuit of money. This harassment is disgraceful and I have a good mind to take them court if I knew what to do or inform watchdog. One thing for sure keep hold of any emails because these people keep coming back time and time again
  7. Hello, yesterday I received a letter from tsc stating that they have previously contacted me (which they did not) claiming that I have an outstanding balance with virgin media for £140. It is puzzling because I do not have an agreement what so ever with virgin media. I did have broadband with ntl 3 years ago, but moved from them due to the billing department charging for two accounts, one for cable tv and a phone line which we never had. This was resolved and I received an email from them stating that my balanced owed was zero. I have kept the email and some of the wrongly priced bills, 512k broadband should have been charged @ £24.99 per month, bills arrived asking for various amounts, usually £38.58 per month. Could anybody advise me please on the best way to proceed. Many thanks
  8. Hi, if anybody could give me any advice it would be greatfully received. Direct legal & collections acting on behalf of their clients MBNA have today sent me a very worrying letter stating it is their intentions to issue a ccj against me with a view to obtaining judgement for payment forthwith then applying for a charging order on my interest of the property. I have been making agreed payments via payment book to dlc due to my bank account not supporting direct debits and to keep a record. Dlc started issueing a couple of payment books then stopped, at this time I emailed them asking them to please send further books, this they sparodically did over some months until no further books were supplied despite repeated requests. After further emails requesting payment books I recieved in the same letter that "the eventual payment of your debt is likely to take many years and we feel the need to obtain some form of tangible security". I am willing to pay of my debt of £1,785 by the agreed terms but dlc seem hell bent on making this near impossible, and seem more intent on making my life miserable by threats of debt collectors calling at my home. Many thanks
