  1. Hi Guys, So it's looking increasingly like I'm going to have to go to court on this one. I really don't want to have to do 24 hours of flying to find out they settle the day before and I have to do another 24 hours to get back! Any thoughts on what I can do? Can I have someone attend court in my absence, or attend via phone (I'd imagine not the phone option)? Or should I just book a ticket, and claim the cost back through them, even if they settle the day before? The ticket would be about a thousand pounds probably, which is a significant portion of my claim! Cheers Tom
  2. Wow, I wonder what the most elaborate find they've ever had is. I'll warn him of this and tell him to stay off the telly (or to pay his dues)
  3. thanks guys and girls. Clarion I'll try that. It's terrible how they try and weasel out of things. It just so happens too thats it's the year I got the most charges!
  4. Any ideas how they do this? I find this quite interesting.
  5. hmmm, Isn't estimating a bit of a gamble? I mean shouldn't I try at least attempting to get the records first?!
  6. interesting, he may possibly be correct then! Wow, that's good news for any immoral people emigrating to canada! If that same as Australia applies to NZ I suppose it all boils down to if they can find you over there. Any ideas how hard these companies try to locate people? He told me today it was 30 flippin grand!!! Blimey, my debts don't even reach a third of that and thats enough!
  7. Hi All, Can you tell me how I should deal with this: I demanded a copy of my past 6yrs worth of statements, which arrived, only with one year missing. 40 days has passed so I called abbey who said they have up to 8 weeks to deliver the statements. I'm pretty sure this is wrong, am I correct? They said they'll deliver the missing year but this may take another 8 weeks. Any advice as to what I can do here? Thanks
  8. I was talking to someone today who said that since he moved to New Zealand he's not going to pay the fee's for his CCJ in england because he won't be back in England for over 6 years and by that time it's off his credit record. Is this right or should I warn him otherwise?
  9. A while back I parked on a pedestrianised shopping street (clumber st to all you notts folk) after 4:30PM. This is the time stated on all the signs that you are legally allowed to park for unloading/loading cars and vans. I jumped out of the car, ran up to the office, grabbed the box, 30secs to a min later I came back down and I had a bleedin ticket on my windscreen! I was annoyed and a little impressed the warden had got in and out of there so quickly, as he/she was no where to be seen!!! On the way home I saw the guy, who promptly tried to hide behind a letter box when he saw my car!! In stiches I got out and had a word with him. The feller could barely speak english and I had to explain to him that I was indeed allowed to park there and he was wrong. He admitted defeat and showed me the address to write to. I took photos of the signs, sent a letter off to the council, paid the fine and after about 3-4 weeks money randomly appeared in my account. I also got a letter from the council with about 2 lines saying "here's your refind" and about 2 massive paragraphs lecturing me about the 'wrong' times to park there and that I was very lucky to get my money back!!! Cheekey sods. SO anyways all it takes is a strongly worded letter, a bit of evidence and time and you too could be getting your fines back! Hopefully this'll inspire someone to take on the greedy wardens.
  10. Hi Guys and Girls, I'm still getting used to these forums and I'm pretty sure this is the correct place for this post! A While back I took my MR2 in for a service at the Milton Keynes (bletchley) branch of Steven Eagell Toyota. When I took the car back I got about a mile down the road and there was a big 'thunk' from the back and I lost partial control of the car. I got it back under control, pulled it over and found that they'd not screwed the rear right wheel on properly and it was hanging half off!!! Luckily I was on dual lanes and there was no other cars around so I didn't get into an accident (I dont like to think what it would have been like if I was by a school with kids around or something like that) I called them up and they advised me to drive it back in! I told them to get out here and fix it, they did and I drove it back. I got a sales rep come out and tell me it was the fault of the garage workers.... that was it, no apology nothing. They also refused to refund my money for the service. I've sent letters back and forth with the head honcho there (Steven Eagell) and the most I could get out of him was 100quids worth of credit (the service was 375!) to spend on "An assortment of Toyota branded merchandise"! Now, astonishingly bad customer service aside, what are my legal options here? Can I claim this money back in the small claims court or am I basically screwed? I think I can come from the point of view that I paid for a service that was not completed properly. Any thoughts?
  11. Hi Guys, I'm spending some time living in New Zealand at the moment and I've just started steps to claim charges back from my bank. If it gets to a court hearing are my chances massivley bought down if I don't attend. I thought about claiming a ticket price with the court action but that could be expensive if I loose. Any thoughts? Thanks Tom
  12. I believe paypalhell.com has your answers here. a lot of annoyed people in there!
  13. Papal makes me so angry, they mistakenly froze about 3k of my money (more fool me for leaving it in there) and it took me about 2 months to get it off them. I was genuinley convinced I'd never see it again. As a result I'll never use paypal again, I'd advise the same.
