Hello, Not sure if this is the right area to post this... I've received a bank statement from Santander for an account that I must have opended years ago but have no real recollection of. There is a balance amount but it does not say if the balance is in credit or debt. Anyone a way to determine this without contacting the bank? Thanks!

Parking Ticket - Considering challenging
Anedar replied to Anedar's topic in Local Authority Parking and Traffic Offences
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to go back there and take a video today. Looking online using streetview and map my run I can see that the nearest payment machine to where I parked was 164 yards away! I haven't got a scanner to upload the picture of the PCN unfortunately. is there anything I should look out for?- 5 replies

Hi, I received a parking ticket on Friday and when I challenged the one sign on a long street saying pay at meter. The nearest metre to my car was over two blocks away. When I explained to the traffic warden that I didn't feel that the sign was sufficient he advised me to appeal as 'a lot of people complain to about the parking notices around this area and the nearest payment machine is way down the road'. Can anyone advise whether they think it would be worth appealing under these circumstances? Thanks for any advice. Anedar

I have be sent the notice to owner. That is all the paperwork that I have. The amount they're asking for is £120. The form has several boxes you can tick to explain your defense. I'm confused as to which one is suitable for mine. a) The contravention did not occur b) The parking attendant was not prevented from serving the penalty Basically, I never was giving a ticket and I would never have parked my scooter on a pavement. I believe the contravention was made up.

There are more details. They contacted me in May saying that I would need to pay 400 quid. I sent a challenge to the court with documentation saying that a) I had never received the alleged ticket and b) proof that I had moved from the property they had sent reminder and subsequent bailiffs to. The court agreed but the authority still want me to pay for the ticket. My query is; which box on the notice to owner form should I tick as my defense? a) The contravention did not occur b) The parking attendant was not prevented from serving the penalty Basically, I never was giving a ticket and I would never have parked my scooter on a pavement. I believe the contravention was made up. Thanks again for your help!

I have been issued a notice to owner form, ordering me to pay £220 for a parking ticket that I never received. They sent the original notice (4 years ago) to an address that I had already moved out of. I don't believe that the original ticket was ever given to me. I also doubt that I was in contravention of any parking laws. They are saying a that a part of my scooter was on a pavement. Has anyone been through this before? Would appreciate any help as I need to get this appeal sent back by Friday at the latest. :???:

Mackenzie Hall - have i done the right thing?
Anedar replied to Anedar's topic in Debt Collection Agencies
I've sent the full and final offer to both of my creditors and heard nothing back. Is it worth me calling them to check they received it. it was signed for. I only have a limited window of opportunity to get this money and am worried that it will close. Thanks so much for your help. -
After a very distressing week. I've arrived home to find a letter from the DCA saying that because of the length of time since I took the loan out (it's been less that 6 years) the bank cannot find the credit agreement. the DCA have informed me that they will no longer chase me. Can anyone tell me what this means and what do I do now? Can I ask them to take the default notice off my credit file?

Mackenzie Hall - have i done the right thing?
Anedar replied to Anedar's topic in Debt Collection Agencies
The last time I had any correspondence about the debt with Mackenzie Hall was about two years ago so I don't think it's statued barred. I've made a full and final offer to two of my creditors. I am waiting for the third to supply me with a CCA. Is that ok? I didn't know that 70% of my creditors had to agree to it. -
I was contacted by Mackenie Hall on behalf of 1st Credit. They were asking me to pay off £1600 of a £2200 overdraft that has been in default for the last few years. I'm in no position to do this but have had an offer from a colleague that would enable me to make a full and final settlement offer. I sent it off today, offering around 40% to all my creditors. Was this the right thing to do? i've since red that these guys are not to be trusted and deal with debts that aren't theirs or they have no right to be chasing. Any advice from anyone that has had dealings with this company would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks! I have sent it and will wait to see what they come up with.

I sent off a letter (that I found on this amazing site) to a DCA that was chasing me for an old bank loan, asking them for a copy of the agreement. They responded that they woould be contacting my original creditor and would try to comply with the 12 day time limit. I received a second letter from them 6 days ago saying that they were still waiting for the credit agreement. They assured me that once they received it they would be after me to pay the amount in full. It has now been well over a month since I sent the initial request. What should I do? Just leave it or can I press them? Any help would be really appreciated as I am a bit clueless as to what to do next.

I have three creditors calling me every moment of the day. One has even got hold of my work number and it was very embarrasing to have to field a call at work. One has recently stopped as I sent a letter requesting a Credit agreement. Another is asking me to repay a 5 year old overdraft. It was at a time when I was extremely irresponsible with money. They gave me a loan to pay off my overdraft and the agreement was that they would take my overdraft down to zero. They just let me keep spending and the balance rose again to £3000 with the loan on top. There was never any agreement for this overdraft. Is it worth me asking them for a credit agreement (that I know doesn't exist) and will I still have to pay it? I may be able to convince my employer to help me settle the debts but it would be pretty unproffessional for me to ask. Any help gratefully received.
