When you say whether I get one is a different matter, do you mean they would say that it doesn't need to be covered by one?

 

I know for a fact that it was never actually applied for it was just added to the account so no agreement was signed.

this is very interesting - im sorry for bringing up an old post, however i would like to do the same with barclays for my account

 

would somone be able to point me to a template letter and address in whcih i could send it to?

Hi JD,

 

Although the o/d would fall under the CCA 1974 legislation, it requires only that the bank supply you with a letter confirmaing certain details.

 

They don't have to supply a credit agreement as with credit cards and an o/d is easier for the bank to enforce repayment.
