My favourite way of making telephone calls is through a computer using VoIP software.
I don't use Skype. I use VoipCheap. I've been using it for over 3 years. It is about the cheapest around. Cheaper than Skype. It allows me to make calls to landlines in most countries in the world completely free of charge.
I've recent disovered Express Talk
Download VoIP Phone Software - SIP Softphone
It costs about £29 whereas the VoipCheap and most other Voip software is free. However, what made me buy it is that it includes an excellent call recorder which records all calls automatically.
Express Talk replaces the VoIP software altogether. You get a completely different dial pad and address book. It was certainly a nuisance to have to recompile my address book. However, there is no conversion utility.
In order to get it to log on to your normal VoIP account, you have to tell it your "sip" settings. this is very easy to do and the information is on the internet. In my case, I simply googled "sip settings voipcheap" and there were several pages which contained the information.
That is all there is to it. I was back up using my VoIP service but with the Express Talk software within a couple of minutes. You can set the recording to manual or to automatic.
If you want to record your calls to your bank or other company and you use a VoIP service - then this may be the best way.
You can get a 30 day trial download of Express Talk so that you can see if it is right for you.
