Thumbs up publish01 vs The Woolwich

I sent my letter Data Protection Act letter to HQ and emaile dit throguh their online banking website.

Few days later I got told that my request had been overturned but then due to the fact that the Data Protection Act requires them to comply with my request they sent me all my statements and listings of all manual interventions in my account since it had opened out of 'courtesy'.

I didn't include the £10 but I think they are hiding charges from me so I will now I've got something otu of them for free!

It was suprisingly easy, good stuff bank action group they owe me £734 (ball park figure) so far, I'll keep you posted.

The quest continues,

Having recieved 2 wholes sets of statements from various parts of Woolwich & Co and a ist of some charges which had been taken from my account upon closer inspection there were discrepancies with charges they stated and actual ones which were taken out if that makes sense!

Anyhow, having sent me £10 of with a slightly altered Data Protection request letter on Tuesday of this week (next day 12pm recorded delivery) I recieved a letter yesterday informing me thye would get back to me by the 12th August which is absolutely ages and is blatantly a stalling tactic.

On a poistive note, things seem to be moving on although am fearing that this will take ages as they wil I am sure offer me some ridiculous bargain basement payoff anyhows, does feel good to be assertive with them and getting a response.

Will keep you posted

After much to'ing and froing with Ms Jessica Fairairn of Woolwich Plc, I got a clear list of all manual interventions to my account.

Although in the list there were charges on a full set of accounts I was sent by one of her colleagues which listed these hidden charges so I add them also, about £1,314 in total.

Preliminary letter sent out to today, am hoping to get things tied up more or less before Christmas. They will try every trick in the book though,

Will keep ya'll posted!

Hi Publish,
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but i started my action against the woolwich on 15th June and i have got a court hearing on the 25th Jan so unless you get really lucky get ready for a long winter.
I dont understand why you waited so long for your Data Protection Act S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) they should have been sent to you by the 18th July no later. If they were late you should send a letter to the Information Commissioners Office notifying them of this fact. Try to stick to the timetables in the FAQ's and dont take any notice of letters stating 'we will get back to you by xx/xx/xx'.
Thats why Data Protection Act 40 days, letter Asking for it Back, 14 days, LBA 14 days after that County Court.
After all its your money dont let them keep any longer than nescesary.

AL.

I recieved a letter from Barclays offering me £350 for the £1,134 they owe me with APR added, wrote back saying this is unacceptable and that I would be happy to settle for an amount nearer the total sum.

Then they say that thats their final offer as apparently the total amount taken in charges is £730, what should I do

Hi publish
Check your figures again. Does it include interest which they wont include.
and you mention manual intervention did they tell you there had been MI if so how many times as i think this would justify them charging a fee.

The best thing to do is use the spreadsheet on to calculate your charges and then send them a copy, so that there can be no confusion in relation to the amount of your claim

Cheers, guys n gals

Yeah the amount I added up which was for£1134 was worke dout from the infrmation which I'd been sent from the woolwich and these were MI's.

They said that the £350 they have offered me is a gesture of goodwill nothgin to do with the charges although they do admit to taking £700 odd worth of charges from me.

I'm a touch confused about what to do,

Had a phone call from Barclays today, offerd me nearly all of the full amount.

Would've liked to go all the way to court but its that time of year n all.

Way to go Consumer Action Group, empowering people with information is a very good thing.
