Default Crazygal12318 v Woolwich

Hello guys and gals.

Have been watching the forum as a visitor for a while now and am currently pursuing charges from The Woolwich/Barclays. I will start a thread once I manage to navigate my way around.

Reading some of the stories here has given me the courage to kick my bank where it hurts!

Thankyou!

ok if you go to the relevant bank thread and literally just under the tool bar that says from the left new threads, and before going down the page it will say underneath- new thread-- click on that and you should be all sorted out. Hope that helps

well. i really wanna get this started (probably starting this in the wong place).

After a friend told me about re claiming my bank charges and giving me a template letter to use I telephoned The Woolwich and asked them if they could provide me with a list of all the charges that had been applied to my account since I opened it back in January 2003. The lady on the phone advised me that she would order these and that I should receive them within 10 days (free of charge).

They actually sent me a full breakdown of charges and I nearly fell off my chair at £4541.00!

That same day (29th November) I slapped a letter in the post using the template I had stating that I was Claiming back all of the charges and supplied them with photocopies of the list thay had provided me with.

I received a letter back from them stating the usual blurb about how sorry they were I was unhappy with their policies bla bla bla and that they would endeavour to have the problem looked into and promised to contact me by 10th Jan 2007 to either give me a decision or to advise me on what they were doing!

On December 28th I received an offer of £385.00 from them. I couldn't believe the audacity of them and promptly called the telephone number supplied.

It was them explained to me that they had cross reference my claim with that of my brother in law who lives next door to me (even though in the letter they had the correct reference/ac number for myself) :S

They told me I could reject the offer but because they had made an offer my case had been closed! (even though they acknowledged they had made an error?)

I wrote back to them the following day (29th) and rejected the offer also explaining in the letter that they had admitted an error and that the offer wasnt actually meant for me.

Is this a typical story???

I have a little update. Barclays telephoned me today and asked me if I would setle for £2000.00. I am in 2 minds as I could really do with the money following Christmas. Gonna have to think about this one.

What would you do? After all, it's £2000 I didn't have even though they have taken over £4000 from me at a time when I was at a really low point in my life and at the time they offered me no help and support whatsoever.

At 50% they're not offering a lot of support now either. First get mad, then get really mad, then get even.
