| moonie & co Vs Woolwich Three days ago, my husband and I requested a copy of our statements under the Data Protection Act in a telephone call with the Woolwich. They were very unhelpful until my husband explained he was entitled to the information going back 6 years etc.
This morning we have received a Termination Letter from the woolwich closing the account.
What a bunch of buggers .. we still haven't received the Data Protection Act request either.

| Re: moonie & co Vs Woolwich Ok the initial anger, shock, frustration of receiving their letter has finally worn off.
The whole amount they are claiming back is made up of their bank charges, and no matter how many times we've contacted them about it by phone, they tell us there is nothing they can do about it.
We requested our statements etc., under the guidelines of the letter in the library 3 days before receiving this letter from them. I was prepared to wait and take action when I had that information, but they've decided to speed matters up by sending us a Termination Notice.
So in response to their letter, we have dispatched our own, basically telling them that we dispute the amount owed as it is purely made up of their illegal penalty charges. We are claiming back £839 which they have charged us in the last year (that's over 1 whole month of my salary gone to the Woolwich in 12 months).
It also went on to say, that if they do go ahead and register a default notice against us, we will take action to have it removed.
They now have 14 days to reply. |

| Re: request for DPA Account now to be closed Postie delivered 2 big envelopes containing statements.
On checking it appears that certain months are missing - 10 months worth of statements. And these statements only apply to 1 account, not the 2 we requested.
I've tottied up my charges and it appears they owe us over £2000 .

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: request for DPA Account now to be closed ok we called the woolwich .... did we sort out the queries? .. sort of.
The request for the missing statements wasn't a problem. Rang openplan and requested them, Tracy politely said they would send them in the next 2 days, plus the missing statements for the other account, although she did want to charge us £340 for them. Not on your nelly, was the general response !
The hunt for a name of who is dealing with our letter was much harder. They really don't like giving out names at all.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: request for DPA Account now to be closed Actually, what the Woolwich said in their letter was;
" in view of the complex nature of the issue you have raised, your complaint has now been ESCALATED to our Head Office Customer Relations Unit"
I'm not sure as to what was so complex about it.
But I feel slightly honoured the Woolwich felt the need to ESCALATE it, does this mean I skip to the front of the long queue at Barclays waiting for refunds?
Anyway, the LBA will be sent in 6 days time as per my timescale regardless of whether Barclays write back or not.

| Re: request for DPA Account now to be closed Did you send your LBA? I'm with the Woolich and sent them an inital demad for repayment of £2544.77 for one of my 3accounts on 2nd May - recorded delivery, and it was delivered on 3rd May - Had a letter back saying it was passed to Barclays as yours was, giving them until Fri before next letter, which I think is the LBA..
