Woolwich Bank Charges

I have calculated this morning, the total charges thw Woolwich have made n the last 6 years. To my sickening surprise, the total came to just over £12,000 excluding any interest that may be due.
Obviously I would like to have these charges refunded. I've read through the useful info on the MSE site and because my claim is more than 'small claims' (over £5K), this makes my claim more complicated. Doesn't it?

What should I do? and do you think I have a chance?

Hiya,

I have just come accross a simular problem (not quite as much) as my 6yrs charges came to £6800. I have been advised to claim twice. One up to £5000 and the other for £1800 after the woolwich have settled the first claim.

Keep me up to date with how you get on and I will as well. (my post is the one wanting to take my boys on holiday).

Who advised you to make multiple claims? If thats the only way I'll have to do it that way, but I would like to clear it in one go.

you can go for the full amount but on the fast track where you would be liable for the other sides costs if you lose. I think you should look into this some more - I believe the costs are limited to £750 - but I'm not 100% on this.....

have a good read about this site, and the hmcs sites.

I have had a lack of understanding and appreciation from Woolwich especially over the last 3 years. They just didn't want to listen. They took they're charges each month without offering any suggestions of help.

I want to take them for the full amount, plus interest. I know they may be some outlay from myself and it may be a battle.

I would like some advise from anyone who may be able to help and guide me.

Do a search for Molly-in-the-trolley. She had a claim with First Direct and I think it was 8K!!!!

She signed a confidentiality agreement so hasn't posted since, but it makes for interesting reading. Hope it helps xxx

This is a situation of choice. You can claim the whole lot in one go, but if you lost you would be liable for the other sides cost. If you look at the probability of loosing, you will find that if you follow the tried and tested method you are unlikely to loose, therefore it is probably worth going for, however there are no gaurentees and no one knows what the banks have up their sleaves.

Have a really good read around the site, you will find others that have claimed large amounts such as your and received settlement.

I am ready to start the ball rolling today. First I will need to get data from Woolwich re all the charges, approx £12,000. And thenI need to add the interest which may be as much as £3,000.
I really do need some advise as to what to do for the next stage.
How much will this cost me?
Will I win?
Is it worth going fo?
Please help.

How much will this cost me? - time & court costs (prb £250 but if it goes in fast track a possible £750 on top if you lose) if you keep it under 15k it should be okay in fasttrack.
Will I win? - probably
Is it worth going fo? - err £12k !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi there i have already filed with the woolwich in fast track my claim is 13,000 ish.
fast track you have the beauty of disclosure.
so im going for it have to criminal amount of money to be taken away from me.

I now reside in Scotland and am owed just over £3000 from The Woolwich. Due to the Scottish small claims laws I can only claim £750 through small claims procedure. I have had to break my total amount owed into smaller amounts and claim them one at a time. It is a pain but will be worth it, I wonder if you can do the same thing through the English system breaking down your claim into £5000 amounts at a time? Just a thought! will keep an eye on your thread with interest!

Send it to the address on your statements or chequebooks. All the letters will end up on one heap in the end anyway
