Default Help with car insurance company Elephant.co.uk

Hi folks hope someone can help me with advice.

I was involved in a non fault car accident in july 2006, my car was then took by my insurance company to be repaired.

The repairs were awful, and took serveral trips back to get rectified. I complained and received compensation due to the inconvience it all caused.

Any way then recently my back brake light has gone. This was replaced by the repairers. The fault was pointed out to me by police who told me to get it fixed. Informed Elephant my insurance company, the following morning. They could not do anything till the monday. They said they will cover my taxi fare for the weekend, as long as it is reasonable, they could define what is and is not reasonable.

I sent in a claim for the taxi fares that came to about £90. I had to change my plans for the weekend as the insurance company would not pay for a taxi to London and back to Nottingham, which is what i had plannned to do that weekend.

The insurance company have now offerred me £ 30 which does not even cover my cost, let alone the inconvience i have suffer due to the repairs there repairer has carried out.

I have been in a courtesy car for two weeks now and my vehicle is still not been picked up for repairs.

A shocking show of customer service, i hope you agree and someone has more advice.

Kind regards

Insurance companies will endeavour to repair the car to its original state, but as for bulbs, that will come under basic 'wear and tear'. For example, if the battery goes flat, or you get a puncture, you can't expect to claim under your car insurance policy.

Hi folks

Just clarify. I have on two occassions replaced the bulb. IT is not the bulb that is burning out it is a problem with the unit itself. and the unit was replaced when the accident happened by the repairer.

The light unit was never placed back on to the car perfectly and has not worked properly since the repairs.

The insurance company have sent out a assessor that could not find the cause of the fault and the insurance company can not find a garage to sort out the problem. They have made me a cash in lieu offer of £150, which is good. But i don't know exactly what is wrong with the unit, and if that will cover the cost of repairs and in the meantime i have to incur travel cost because the insurance took away my courtesy car.

Can't get the car into a garage for another 10 days and the hire car cost will exceed the £150 they have given me let alone the repair cost.
