Default termination notice

Sent access request by registered post yesterday
Recieved termination notice from barclays last week
Before this have asked Barclays for help seen personal banker made complaints etc to no avail
They want overdraft paid in full (mostly made up of charges £800 and growing)
Then found this site!
Should I offer a monthly payment?
Should I tell them I am claiming charges back?
I now have no bank account and probably cant get one now
Any advice very gratefully recieved

Have they recalled the overdraft and threatened to close your account?
Have a look at this thread regarding a new account.

Firstly, welcome to the forum. You will get all the help you need. Please have a read of the FAQs & some of the threads in the Barclays forum.

Down to business - Have Barclays provided you with statements yet ? If you have kept originals, you can use these.

As your OD is effectively made up of charges, then once you send the LBA your refund should therefore nearly clear the OD, keep persuing this.

The proposed closure of your account appears to be a new tactic by Barclays however, the Ombudsman will take a dim view of this as preious complaints have been upheld. ( Sorry, can't find link but I'm sure someone will post it for you ).

As for a new bank, try A&L online or Co-op who over basic bank accounts.

Lastly, stick with ir, you will get all the help you need here.

Not got statements yet but am afraid they will pass this on to debt collection agency so not sure what to do as getting data can take 40 days or more?

My understanding is that as you have already sent in the Data Protection Act that the "debt" is therefore in dispute so Barclays cannot pass on to a DCA.
( Can someone more knowledgeable please confrim ).

In the meantime, keep to the timeline of the Data Protection Act, Barclays will normally produce within the timeframe then immediately send off the LBA.

What exactly have they said in the letter threatening termination ?
