Question Abbey National Banking Charges

Hello everyone, my name is Steve. With all the publicity and success stories of people reclaiming bank charges lately, I have decided to persue a claim myself. I am self employed and get cash in hand, and the amount of times I have got to the bank a day late etc to pay my cash in is unreal, I must have paid many hundreds in bank charges over the years.I am with the Abbey National, or should I say I was until they froze my account. What has infuriated me is that they froze my account and threatened to file a default claim against me for not clearing my overdraft, which they probably have done, and damaged my credit rating in the process. The fact is that I only went overdrawn because the banks excess charges sent me into the red, it's not actually money I've had. Can anyone tell me the first step? I know I have a right to my statements over the past 6 years, but do I ask for the statements or just a rundown of what they have charged me over that time? Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks, Steve.

The process starts with a statement request.Better to do this with a Data Protection Act request (especially with these lot)
Take some time to read the faqs and also the Abbey threads.
Help is always at hand of each level.
Good understanding and preparation is the key.
