HI
I just wanted to say Hello and that I have sent the first letter off to Nat West asking for £3611.57 ( charges and interest) to be repaid into my account.

I heard about this site, as My partner heard an interview with Martin Lewis on Radio2. I have been very bad with money for a while, but problems with Working family tax credit and the C.S.A have exasperated the problem.

I was really suprised when I looked through my statements to see how merciless my bank had been, they once chaged me nearly £80 for a £4 direct debit referral. The problem was that I was so ashamed I just buried my head in the sand. It is quite clear from my statemens that the actions of the bank have spiralled me further into debt, I thought there was no way out. However if I am successfull I will be able to clear my overdaught and some cards, making life much easier.

I sent Nat West the first letter giving them 14 days to respond, a week later I have had a letter to say please bear with us, they are investigating and will respond as soon as possible.

Martins site says to send the second letter after 14 days giving a further 7 days prior to court action. I am unsure if this is a valid response, should I wait intil the bank respond or carry on with writing again once the 14 days are up.

Any advice would be appreciated. Hope I have put this in the right place, this is my first post and I am a bit of a techno phobe.

Have just read through your message and I am so far impressed with the direction you are taking to recover your charges. I am trying to start the process of reclaiming all the charges my bank too from me but i have no idea where to start. I need to find the first letter to request all the charges that the bank took from me over the last four years. Can you direct me to that site please.

loopyloo and pepsosam, Welcome to the CAG and I see you are both at separate stages so first of all I would recommend reading the FAQ's to familiarise yourself with the process. Then I would read the relevant bank thread to give yourself confidence before starting a thread in the relevant bank thread. Loopyloo- did the bank give you a further period of time for the charges? Letter Before Action

Hi Nattie
No they did not give a date, just that they were dealing with it and would respond as soon as possible, I have looked on Martins site and it appears that lots of people are getting this response from Nat west at the moment.

I do think this is a delaying tactic, The 14 days are up on Thursday.
