Talking Hi Everyone! - LLoyds TSB Bank Charges Claim for Closed Bank Account

Hi,
Just wanted to say hello to everyone and I think that this is a great online resource along with Money saving expert and other consumer advice sites - who says the internets a bad thing!

I'm aiming to claimback loads of bank charges that LLoyds TSB applied to my account as a student and as a graduate. however, I closed this account down a year or so ago and I'm not sure if I can still claim - I have kept all my statments though...

Welcome.

Closed a/c's are no different, same principle, same process

Before you start please have a thorough read of the FAQs (there’s a Step by Step guide here too). You should print both of these out to refer to, so as to avoid having to ask basic questions later.

Then look at other threads in your bank’s forum, so as you know what you can expect to happen

You need to spend 2 or 3 days gradually getting your head round everything. If you find a forum/thread/post of interest, save it in your Favourites, so as you can always find it easily.

There’s a lot to take in, but it’s time well spent and will ensure that you succeed in your claim without problems. Remember it’s not a race, don’t rush, just follow the guidelines one step at a time

This is a self-help forum and you must be prepared to put in time and effort. It is your claim, your money and you cannot expect others to do all the work for you.

When you feel confident that you understand the process and the various stages involved, start a new thread in your bank’s forum and post your progress and any questions there and you’ll get plenty of help

All the info to get you started is here:
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...se-read-these/

Finally the Moderators and Site Helpers are having to spend far too much time dealing with unnecessary and avoidable errors in claims caused by impatience, ignorance or just plain laziness. If you don’t know what to do next, ask. If you don’t understand something, ask. It might be a dumb question, but it’s a lot easier to sort out than a dumb mistake.

Good luck

HI sweetback

you can claim on closed account up to 06 years, got to the FAQ section and have a good look around. Spend a few days getting to undersdtand the process and then go get em! Post a thread in the relevant banks section for you claim, and dont forget to post any questions you may have in there so others can help who have already started their claim.

Good luck and welcome

I know what my Bank has charged me since I transferred my business there in 2003 (It's all in my MS Money program).

Should I start by writing to them, detailing those charges and asking for the money back, or should I ask them to "own up" to the charges first?

My previous account was with Girobank, and I'm not even sure I have the account number now! How would I go about getting charges back from them?

thankyou both very much - such a quick and comprehensive response! I'll keep studying - really hate the way consumers so unadvised - I'm also just gearing up to lock horns with an airline company that lost my really important baggage last year and I'll need all the support I can get! I really do think the consumers time is now.....
