Can I take on 2 banks at the same time??

I have a old account with the Halifax that I know I have had charges on. I want to re-claim these.

Myself & my Husband also have a account with the Abbey. Now this account used to be in just his name but a couple of years ago we changed to to a joint account & use this soley now. We have had lots of charges on this account!!!

What is worrying me with the Abbey is that A) We have a large overdraft & can not afford for them to close the account. B) We have our mortgage with them and do not want to cause any problems with this!!!

Does any one have any experience of the Abbey in this respect?? Reading through the Abbey Forum they seem to be making everyone actually go to court for the money!!!!!

Any advise would be fab!

imo if i had a mortgage with abbey, i would claim of them unless i was 100% sure i wouldnt miss any future payments, as they could cause hassle

but yes, you can make 2 claims at one as there different banks

I think what I will do is do my Halifax one first so that I have experience & then take on the abbey as I think that will be a bigger fight!!!

Hi Glitterygirl, welcome to the family.

Account closure is always a possibility, although it doesn't happen very often and then usually after a second claim against the bank.

It shouldn't affect your morgage as it is a seperate account.

Most of the banks are forcing court action, but paying up before it reaches the courtroom.

Start your own thread in the Abbey Forum and post any questions there along with any progress reports. You will get answers from people who are claiming off Abbey.
