What is a fair charge?

Well we have been charged £30 for each returned DD. Now I am preparing a court claim to reclaim my money. However some payment is perhaps due to the bank. The OFT report mentions £12, and admits this is just a number without meaning. So what should I allow for each DD? I am dealing with NatWest in Manchester, if that makes any difference....wages might be different there compaired with London.

you are rec;laiming all of the charge, if the bank wants to explain how much it actually costs, they are free to do that.

then they can claim back the actual cost involved

Absolutely - what Nathal said. If the bank want you to pay them "something" for your defaults, let them show how much it costs - the court will award them that portion of the money you're claiming back and you can have the rest.

I would not, however, hold your breath for them ponying up with the info. I would also not hold your breath for the bank seeing that you're being fair and playing the same game. If they really really gave a sh!t about "fair", they would never have set the penalties up in the first place.

My advice to you is to develop a heart of sprung steel, and emotions of carbon fibre composite - and letter writing at 10,000 revs per minute. Go out to gettem, and gettem HARD.
