Question Newcomer and letter before action

Hi Everyone, I'm a relative newcomer to this site, though I have read everything in detail relating to claiming back my bank charges.

I've just had my response to my first letter, from Lloyds TSB, which is basically the 'bank's final response' and notification that I can make complaint to the banking ombudsman if I'm not happy. At this point to I just go to letter before action, reiterating my position and appending my schedule of charges again?

Also, I have a significant amount of money to reclaim over 3 separate accounts with the same bank and am doing all 3 at once, is this appropriate?

Any support or advice would be really appreciated.

Talking Re: Newcomer and letter before action

Hi

I think that the general feeling is that if your bank has stated that it is their "final response" then you can send in your LBA which you will need to amend slightly to reflect your disappointment at the lack of a "satisfactory" response.

Yes- you have to attach your schedule of charges again.

You have to make your decision on the 3 accounts to take into account whether it takes you over the 5k (in England) limit for small claims.

You will probably find that you get more responses if you post on the Lloyds TSB forum.

Best of luck with your claim - looks like you have done your homework

Hi, Hugo, welcome.

First, may I suggest you open yourself a NEW THREAD on the LTSB forum, so you can get advice from the people with firsthand experience of that bank.

As to whether claiming all three together is appropriate, I suppose it may depend on whether they have to be classed as individual claims (then total amount may not be an issue) or have to be lumped together which might have repercussions if the total is more than £5000.

But I'm getting ahead of myself here (and probably confusing you as much as I'm confusing myself!). Go the the LTSB forum, Hugo, as I've already suggested.

And Good Luck, dude.
