Default Is it worth pursuing a charge of £88?

Hope I haven't missed this question on the FAQ page - I did look but couldn't find any info. I went over my overdraft limit by £56 for a week. I was charged £88 by NatWest - £28 charge, £30 to pay a DD for me and £30 to clear a cheque for me. I wrote to my bank manager to complain and put forward my case (have been banking with them since I was 7, have never gone over my limit before etc etc) but received a very patronising letter in return ("Thank you for taking the time and trouble to write to us" was the ending). I feel outraged by these charges but is it worth taking it any further for just £88? Surely the costs incurred would be greater than a refund?
Also, is it possible to get a refund of £8 from HSBC for a late CC repayment from June? (i.e. a reduction from £20 to £12)
I'm very grateful to you.

.
How much would the charges have to be for you to be outraged enough to claim them back?
I'm outraged too - that you're not going to get back what is rightfully yours.
The only costs are your time, a few stamps and £30 court fees ( which you claim for as well)

GOOD NEWS!!
Amazingly, I received a letter from the Customer Relations department of NatWest letting me know that they have credited my account with the £88 pounds charges. This has happened after the Preliminary Letter stage. I even got an apology!!
I'd like to thank the Consumer Action Group for making people more aware of their rights, and for the people who replied to my query below and encouraged me to go ahead.
I hope that everyone else will be successful in their claim. The feeling of justice having been done is wonderful.
All the best,
Susannah

Hi Susannah

I is worth persuing each and EVERY charge that is applied, the £20 charge that HSBC applied should NOT be so high either

I take it they charged you £20 not £12 ??

But even still I feel that the OFT are still wrong

When it only costs around 50 pence for an automated process, why they making £19:50, or even now £11:50

Until such time they can prove that is what it costs them, I will not pay it, and they will not divulge such info, even to court I suppose
