The template letters I have found on Barracads entry have they being effective ie asking to have a mortgage written off etc

Hi and welcome to CAG.

Which particular ones do you mean? If you mean the CCA request most mortgages are not covered by the Consumer Credit Act. The mortgage is also a secured loan which appears on your deeds.
