Default A&L bumper pack

Just got home to find that alliance and leicester have finally delivered me a bumper pack of my bank accounts past transactions. It's mind blowing! I'm about to sit down and have a proper look at it now, but my first impression was 'what the hell am I going to do with this lot?'

Any tips in translating these statements would be appreciated, but really I just wanted to post a thread to say Hi - and i love this whole idea of consumers taking back what is theirs. Its about time we stood up to the rip off merchants!

Hi and welcome to the forum

As for deciphering statements, I can't say I know what A&L's look like but a highlighter pen is a must....I tell you, you'll never get fed up of seeing a bank charge when you are doing this!!

If you start a thread in the A&L section I'm sure there will be lots of encouragement and support for you.

Hi Dolly

Thanks for your advice. I've only just picked this mail today, so i sussed the highlighter pen thing myself - and I was delighted every time I saw another of those charges!

I got a letter yesterday from A&L saying that there was no way that their charges were unlawful and that the oft rules only applied to credit cards?

I thought great, not only am i going to do you for the bank charges now i have a written statement from them that I can use when I do them for all those horrible credit card fees they've had from me time and time again!

Nice one for replying to my thread - are you going through any processes to get money back?

Let me know

Yeah I know what you mean. I am currently claiming back my brother's charges from A&L - the bundle they sent is absolutely massive. It must be 500 plus pages of A4.

Went through it last week. Best of luck with yours

I made the mistake of pouring a large glass of red wine to help me through the process which stifled a bit. I got it into my head that it was a lot more complicated than it was, but it was easy when i got going.

I must say though i got some statements through from lloyds tsb theother day regarding another account I have and it is a lot more user freindly to decipher.

Good luck!!

Hi

I used the data protection act template letter in the section that has all the bank template letters. It is the 1 that you have to send the £10 cheque with (which I was sort of hoping was going to bounce so I could get more money out of them)

I hope this description helps.

Today I got the final letter off them before I start my claim against them. Wass wanting to get on with it straight away but my 2 little boys weren't about to give me any peace and quiet to concentrate on all those claim forms. I'll probably do it at the weekend.

Bring it on!!! and good luck to you

By the way completly missed your last question. The stuff came within a few days of the 40 days I had told them they had to reply. I guess i took them 3 and a half weeks!
