I have joined to help my brother in law, who is getting a bad time from Nat West. He now has a job but his salary is disappearing in charges and he seems to be in a vicious circle.

He has thrown away many of his bank statements, so that might make things a bit more difficult. Will let you know how we get on.

Hi and welcome.

The best place to start is reading through the FAQ and Library sections and especially the step by step guide.

It shouldn't be too much of a problem if statements have been thrown away. Even if the bank won't send you copy statements or wants to charge you a lot for them, you can still get hold of the information you need under the Data Protection Act.

Brother in Law phoned Nat West today and was told it was £5 per sheet for copy statements.

So he's going to have to go down the Data Protection route. I have found the address - does the cheque have to be made payable to Nat West?
