Default Direct Auto finance / Yes Car Credit

Through the delights of log book loans i have found this site. I see there have been a lot of posts reference this company and was hoping for some advice.

In 2003 we bought a car through these people having lots and lots of addresses in a few years we were unable to get finance anywhere. We got the car and were forced in to taking there insurance and all that other stuff. After only 5 months the Cat convertor on the car disintergrated leaving us with a massive £1200 bill and a thank you for your letter from the warrenty company. After only a few weks the water pump failed and blew the head gasket again leaving us with a massive bill. Contacted DAF and after getting the financial ombusman involved they agreed they would pick the car up and cancel the agreement. We however ended up having t pay the garage nearly £200 to the garage before they would release the car.

DOes anyone know if we are able to claim anything back.

I wish I could help, I don't know how you can be helped, but if its a consolation this company has now gone under and I still have a pending issue with them myself, where they treated me like a passerby after taking my money and I had to push a 4 year old Toyota Avensis for three months. I had to stop paying in order to get heard. But I think you will need a solicitor. You can try Which Consumer Group for legal advice on which@which.co.uk or try 0845 307 4000 or 01992 822800. They are very experienced and generally feared by most companies because they have sharp teeth on consumer issues. Their legal department which is made up of independent experienced solicitors, charges just under £10 a month for advice and taking up your case to its logical conclusion.

Hi Meggyweggy,

I am a moderator on a site www.saynotoyes.co.uk. which was set up for disgruntled customers of Yes Car Credit (DAF) and similar companies.
If you wish to visit us, and read through some of the posts I am sure we will be able to offer you some advice.

We have many members in a similar situation to yourself who have successfully challenged YCC.
