Default vehicle tax problem

hi guys.

can anyone give me a bit of advice please.

My daughter has today been to carcraft and bought a car on finance.

It wasnt till she got the car home that she suddenly realised that there wasnt any tax on it.
Has she any comebacks on them to supply her with at least 6 months tax and where they in the wrong to allow her to drive the car off the grounds when they knew it wasnt taxed. could she get out of the agreement , is there a cooling off period at all.

i will be very gratefulfor any opinions on this asap.

Regards overflow

Hi overflow,

any cooling off period should be included in the agreement as far as I know.

as for the tax... I'm afraid it is common practice to sell cars off the forecourt untaxed, but I do think that they should have pointed this out.
In my limited experience they will tax the car for you if you pay the tax ontop of the price or negotiate it in the deal.
I don't think they are obliged to inform customers there is no tax.

Unfortunately unless the car tax is part of the purchase agreement it is the car owners responsabilty to make sure the car has a valid tax disc, although Carcraft should of made you aware of this at the point of sale.

any cooling off period should be included in the agreement.

unfortunatly in the agreement it states that there is no right to a cooling off period under the cca 1974 .

looks like she cant do anything then,

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but why doesn't your daughter just tax the car? Problem solved.
