Unhappy Npower - business account incorrect bills

Hi,

Npower, who is my business (partnership) electricity supplier, sent me a bill in February 07 advising me of incorrect bills issued to me in 20 feb 2006 to 8th feb 2007. They sent me credit notes for all these bills that I had already paid and issued me new bills with an outstanding amount of £7819.46.

I wrote to them on 15th Feb to ask for more information. They replied on 2nd March, saying that their estimates were incorrect and that they have made adjustments.

I raised the issue with energy watch, who wrote to nPower with a standard response of "Please sort it out".

Npower then wrote to me again with the same thing in different tone and with more copies of invoices that do not make sense.

What should I do?

If they make a mistake of estimating incorrectly, I am the one who is having to pay for it.

Its hard enough to make a living with a small biz.

Please help?

They are only obliged to read meters once every two years for domestic meters, although I'm not sure if this even applies to business accounts.

It appears that since 20th Feb 06 they have been underestimating your usage. They have presumably now obtained a reading and discovered this, and now billed you accordingly. While providers should make more effort to get accurate readings, the onus is on you to check bills are correct.

If they have now billed you correctly, there is little you can do I'm afraid other than see if they will allow you to spread repayments and check your bills more carefully in future. Businesses have very little consumer protection.
