Utility companies who bully the vulnerable ...

Sicked, disillusioned with this whole thing right now. Why is nothing done in the UK to protect those either living in poverty or vulnerable against the companies who, I have to say, bully if you fall behind, make threats.

The big energy companies all pay lip service to looking after the vulnerable, but in reality they don't give a d**n. They care only about profits, and they squeal about not being able to invest if the government threatens to squeeze them in any way. The real problem is that basically there is NO meaningful regulation in this country. Ofgem is useless and seems to care only about *reducing* regulation - they think that more competition is the best way to protect the consumer! The Energy SUpply Ombudsman is pathetic, and is part of a private company paid for by ... the energy companies! Energywatch does its best, but is being wound up on September 30th. I guarantee that, as prices rocket and regulation gets ever weaker, there will be deaths this winter as old and vulnerable people succumb to hypothermia. "Heat or eat" - what a country.
