We received a telephone call from the above company telling us that they could get us cheaper power bills. We were at the time looking into changing suppliers ourselves and told them we were not interested.
However, the next thing we knew, our supply had been switched without our consent from Scottish Power to Southern Electric.
To cut a long story short we were told by SP that we could not just go back to them - we would have to sign on as a new customer and the process would take 6-8 weeks. As we were planning on moving to British Gas this delayed our move and caused so many problems.
Scottish Power said that we would receive a bill from Southern Electric and SE came to read the meter.
We have now received a bill from SP for £500 which is a £100 less than the previous bill. We have complained before about the amount of the billls but have never received a response. Our bills before we moved to SP about 3 years ago were around £180/£200 and the very first bill was over £100 more and not £60 less as we were promised.

On checking our bills we find that the rates we have been charged are the "Northern Rates" when there are specific rates for "Yorkshire" which is were we live. This would have made a difference of £22 on our last bill alone. Can anyone else in Yorkshire (Scarborough) confirm whether they are charged Northern or Yorkshire rates.
This whole fiasco with Home Advisory Service has cost us a great deal of lost time trying to sort out and has cost us a payment of £60 from Quidco as we have had to resort to getting British Gas to sort it out for us.

I cannot believe that they were able to change our suppliers, not only without our knowledge or consent but we had specifically told them we were not interested.
