Hi There,
Does anyone have any experience with CHP / District Heating, either professionally, or as an end user?
I live in an apartment block that uses a CHP system (well, it's currently just District Heating really, as it doesn't generate any electricity, but that's another story!). The problem is that since we moved in at the beginning of February this year, it has been down at least 4-5 times in that period. Each time, it's been down from between 6 to over 24 hours, usually at peak times.
As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating, as we're paying a standing charge (plus 6.5p per unit) for the service and then end up boiling kettles to wash with and using portable electric heaters to keep warm.
I've always understood these kind of systems to be very reliable. But to be honest, an camp fire would be more reliable than this .. LOL
The other problem is that, as technically we use commercial gas, the system is not regulated and so cannot complain to anyone.
Does anyone else live in an apartment that uses District Heating / CHP, that is more/less reliable? Are there any professionals out there that can offer any advice?
Thanks,
Andy.
