Default Question about gas meters

Hello

I have a gas meter which counts cubic feet. My last bill was for 200 odd
units but they have some weird formulae to convert it and they say it
was 700 cubic meters total bill almost £280.

Question is how can 200 odd units from a cubic feet meter turn out
to be 700 cubic meters.

Much obliged for any explanation on this issue, as I am rather
confused.

Regards

Joe.

Hi skywreck, quite simple they have muliplyed by 3 instead of deviding by 3.
700 / 3 = 233.3333.

233.3333 / 3 = 77.7777

Write back & tell them about their error!

Thanks for your reply ASIIndustries.

The meter says in the front Cubic Feet, and below also details of my latest bill, would appreciate if you would have a look and confirm if I am being wrongly charged.

Gas unrestricted kWh Last reading 8821 Present reading 9095 Units 274
Correction factor 1.02264 Calorific value 38.9413
Total metric units used 792.97 cu mtrs
Units converted to kilowatt hours 8577.58kWh

Then the bill charges me on 8577.58kWh @3.020p each

It seems to me that 274 cu ft can never be 792.97 cu mtrs.

Any help in deciphering this mess very much appreciated as I am
finding it difficult to pay this bills as calculated above.

Thank you

Joe.

Hi skywreck, firstly sorry just multipling by 3 is just a rough estimate, in fact most of the time i cannot count on the spot with more than 4 digits.
