E.on Hi,
I've been reading a lot of complaints about this company, I've been trying to sort out a complaint my mother has with them.
Around 18 months ago there were some workmen working in the house opposite hers and bills from E.On used to come to my mums house for them, they all had the same door number and the lady upstairs to my mum took the bill over to them. The bill was addressed to a housing association with my mums address on (I spoke to the housing association concerned but they said they were nothing to do with them) but as I said the house across the road had the same address except this house opposite was in the process on being knocked down by these workmen who I suspect were contractors of the housing association. The workmen then left but the bills kept coming my mum posted them back to N.On with a note this is not my bill. This went on for a while the bills were around £24.00 to start with but they increased to £86.00 so I guess they must be estimated. Now the bills have started to have the letter "a" added as my mothers address is no. --'a' I started to call them in January, my mums eighty and a bit hard at hearing so I told her I'd deal with it. I told them the bills are not her's she has never been with E.on for her fuel, I asked them if perhaps they could send a representative down mum could show them were the house used to be, and show them her meter so they would know she wasn't with them but no they didn't want to do that. They wanted serial numbers and meter numbers and after looking into this I was told the bills are not her's if she gets any more ignore them, and it will take about 6-8 weeks to transfer. She got a couple more which she ignored. During this time no one ever called to try to read the meter which is strange. Then she got another letter saying the debt was going to be passed to debt collectors and they would visit and either cut her off or fit a pre-paid meter. I phoned them again but this time the woman I spoke to said she couldn't deal with me as it wasn't my bill!!! funny they did before and it wasn't mums bill either but she got "lumbered" with it. I wrote to them saying she did not owe them any money, I said this is a terrible way to treat an old lady and basically they should sort this out. Mum got no reply to this. Then she got another letter this time from the debt collectors telling her they would visit, also threatening court action etc. I told her not to open the door to anyone, she told me someone did call round who was very persistent it was a while before she went away. I phoned the Energy Ombudsman and explained the situation to them, they told me to send a final letter this time to the Director of Customer Services at E.On outlining the problem and give them 10 days to reply, and if the matter is not resolved they will get involved. This I have done sent recorded delivery. If it were me I would let them take me to court she doesn't owe them anything the bill hasn't even got her name on it, it has the housing associations name, but mum doesn't want all this stress they are harassing her she lives alone since Dad passed on and its a worry for her. These people have a lot to answer for. E.On's time is up on 20th March, I'll post the out come of this on this site. |
