Default Business energy interupted - compensation?

I've just got home from hanging around at work since 9:30 till well till about 15:30 .... been home abit longer then. But the power has been off since I got into work. I'm very concerned about the Fish (as the heaters & filters will have been off for a while) also about the freezers!

I hung around as I was told the power would be on in an hour that was at 10am ... then constant delays. My takings drop from an average of about £1200 to £300. All terminals off-line and all calculations done in my head - that hurt lol

I'm guessing I won't get far but surely I should be entitled to something for covering the staff who I kept as I was re-assured everything would be fine??

Has anyone dealt with this much before?

Cheers, happy new year btw

I think that Brighton is covered by Seeboard distribution. You need to make a claim against the distribution company and not the supplier.

Not sure about the contract bit but perhaps start with your supplier and ask for details on claiming compensation from the distrubution company. You probably will have to fight for it with the distribution company who are not your supplier and if your claim is reasonable the distribution company may back down and pay up.

When I am with npower but as you said Seeboard is the distributor. I'll contact npower and ask them for details claiming compensation from Seeboard - correct? I think it is reasonable as we were unable to properly open the shop and as I said I kept the staff on as I was told it would be on in an hour etc. Takings dropped from around £1200 to about £360

seens as i work fpr E-on i can sugges that your electric has to be off for at least 18 hrs before any compensaiton is applicable, however it is true that you would need to speak to your distributor and this is on your bill
