Default British gas/disconnection

Hi all.

Missed a direct debit paymnet early this month and got a letter after 7 days demanding full paymnet in 11 days or i would be dissconnected etc.

I rang when i got the letter and a lady set me up on another paymnet scheme starting next month at slighly higher rate, all sorted i thought, very easilly and very helpfull lady in the paymnet dept.

This was on friday, on satday my dad got a phone call at a different address and was told he was going to be cut off unless he payed in full blah blah, but when my dad asked who and what address the guy admitted he made a mistake and did my dad have my phone number as i was going to be iminently cut off.

My dad and especially my mum have now had a sleepless night worrying abouth there wayward son (me) being cut off with 6 year old daughter and 3 month old daughter and im just about ready to drive up to wherever britsh gas are located and kick someone into next year.

Utter [edit]!

Anyone advise if the new paymnet plan i have set up will be ok and left to run or has someone overuled it do you think?

Also anyone advise who to call to sport this out once and for all [edit]

It sounds as if there has been a slight mistake made here. There is no way they would try to cut you off for missing one dd payment. Is it possible that the call your Dad got was nothing to do with your situation and just a pure coincidence - you're not called John Smith are you?

We missed about four payments a couple of years ago and we sorted it out by increasing the future ones.

Nope, no mistake as my dad was in our house before and used to be the account holder.

I have missed paymnets in the paset, but have always sorted out an increased paymnet plan,

On the disconnection letter it did say that after full paymnet has been made i would be unable to start another paymnet plan, but when i called the number the lady in credit management did it without batting an eyelid.

I know from previous experience that they have a system that calculates what paymnets are needed when setting up an account, and if you cant meet the set paymnet the system wont allow you to set up an new agreement.

I will find out tomorrow when they open, im iching to get in contact with them, bang out of order talking my buisness with my parents, isnt this supposed to be against the data protection act?

Oooh, Data Protection Act breach, definitely! Even if you and your dad have the same name, the DOBs would be different. The 'guy on the phone' should have verified that the person on the other end was the account holder with security questions, as they are not allowed to discuss account details with anyone but the holder.
