Angry powergen nightmare goes on

i have now sent a letter to powergen trying to find out why my gas for 6 months is £561.00,i recieved a phone call on friday and was told the reason why "you have used your heating for 8 hours a day" can you believe it .i cant.i never have my heating on that long 1.5 hrs in the morning same in the evening i use it for hot water.
and to top things off they want payment or its off to court.i tried to arrange a payment plan with them,£48 a month which my husband and i cant afford we are on benefit,i managed to reduce that to £10 a month BUT then he asked for proof via benefit letter, benefit agency address,AND THEN national insurance no,and i was told they could attatch this to our benefits to pay the amount back.WHO THE HELL DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE? ASKING FOR PERSONEL STUFF.
when i questioned why these things were needed i was simply told"well you are no longer a customer" and dam right he was,and will never be.
im just wondering is there anything they can do and what should be my next move?
thank in advance

go threw there offical complaint process and make sure thay have correct mete reading from when u left them.

Iam having problems with them to so dont worry. u dont have to provide them the personally info just tell them u will set up a payment plan with them and that u will pay them the £10 a month from ur bank direct to ur bank via standing order.

i have to believe they have correct meter readings as 6 month down the line i have not kept them but as i said before im supposed to have had the heating on for 8 hours a day to run up the bill,or the meter was broken they will never admit to thet.or the boiler was not efficiant well we did have problems with that it was broken down most of the time meaning no heating so where they get there 8 hrs from ill never know.

can u prove the boiler was broken down a lot because if so and you can prove there was no heating or hot water comming from it then i would defently dispute the debt.

energywatch got in touch today what a waste of time, just gave me a contact number to phone powergen customer relations.
if this goes to court what can they actually do is ti a ccj i dont want to go that far i have been there before for a mortgage not a nice thing to go through?

Default Re: Can anyone help me with my Powergen Nightmare?

I've had similar problems...
Moved from prepayment meters (Scottish Power & British gas) approx 12 months ago via Uswitch to Powergen.
Set up Standing Order with Powergen. Asked for new meters-not pay as you go. Told I would have to be a customer for 3 months minimum. Meanwhile continue with pre-payment. This I do. At the same time they are taking £50 pcm from standing Order! They then bill me for nearly £1,000 and threaten me with court action when I have paid twice over already for the same service. Zillions of phone calls and letters later they refund me £250, replace meters but then send me a new prepayment card which of course won't go in the new meter!!!
I next receive innumerable phone calls seeking a customer in Buxton, Derbyshire (I live in Surrey).
No readings ever made then a letter threatening court action if I do not pay £613.27 immediately. I have never received a bill!!!!
Claire Wilde from the Directors Office apologises profusely and sends me a series of xcel spreadshhets concerning my account which do not make any sense to me whatsover.
Anyone worked fro Powergen and is able to interpret them???????? Please Peronally mail me.
