Hi I'm new and wondered if anyone has had the same problem as me?
...I have just been refused a mortgage due to a CCJ that I have acquired from Severn Trent.
On investigating this it is completely their error as they did not close an acount, as intructed by me, in 2004, the debt has been ongoing until Feb 2007 and the CCJ attached on the 1st of May this year!
Severn Trent have admitted their `clerical error` and infact they owe me over £100! but at the moment this does not help me as I can only obtain a sub prime mortgage until it is removed, I have spent a week off work and over 50 telephone calls dealing with this.
As I have an offer on a house with a substantial negotiated discount (as owned by a house builder and not an owner, it was a part exchange on a new property) I promised to complete ASAP, so I may lose this house now as I will not complete quickly. My question is:
Is this grounds for compensation from Severn Trent? has anyone obtained consequential losses from Severn Trent or any other utilities company. Many thanks for your help in advance.
