Default British Gas - The unknown Tariff (cheaper)

This may not be useful to everyone, especially me!!

But if you are able to pay for say a years worth of Gas (only gas) in advance and say that you want to go on their advance payment tariff.

I am not sure on the actually cost per kWh but you make on average 13% saving. You can top up the amount you pay over the year. BG will send you a letter advising you that to keep the tariff you need to pay X amount in.

If you forget, can't be bothered or can't afford to keep paying then when the money runs out, you'll just go onto normal tariff.

Including VAT, mine is 3.338p for the first 5860kWh a year and 2.102p for all the rest. Very cheap. Thats with EDF on yorkshire prices.

I'm with Npower and pay 4.412p per unit for the first 4572kWh then 1.915 for anything else. I also get £80 a year cashback for taking gas and electric and paying via direct debit so that knocks off a big chunk.
