Default T-mobile charged £30 for failed Direct Debit, can I claim it back?

Does anyone know whether I can get a 'failed direct debit' charge back from
T-mobile?
Despite phoning up and paying the missed payment BEFORE the next bill was due to be issued, (paying a premium of £3.00 to pay by debit card(!!) the next bill has arrived with a fee of £30 plus the £3 mentioned above. At no time did the 'very helpful employee' on the other end of the phone mention that this fee would be charged.

In addition to this charge, I have been charged £39.00 by the Halifax for the rejected payment and an additional £28.00 will be charged next month as the £39 took the account into an unauthorised overdraught. All this when my account has never been overdrawn before. I am currently persuing the bank to refund these charges using the method advised on this site..THANKS.

Anyway, back to T-mobile...........Any ideas ?

So far, this oversight will cost me nearly £100 !

Exactly the same principle... It's a penalty charge and as such is unlawful...

If they won't refund on simple phone call, just adjust the standard letters and fire them off...

Its outrageous, that's all I can say that doesn't involve @!!???@##!!@.

I've never used T-Mobile but I'm not going to now either. I would rather have PAYG than be mugged by banks and phone companies like this. I'm afraid its the only way they will learn. Take the business away from them. I just wish ONE company/bank would clue up to how to get massive amounts of their competitors' business -- STOP thieving the customer's bank accounts. I dislike DD on principle anyway, letting someone dip into your bank account at will does nothing for me, however convenient it might be.

Hooray! A nice man at T-mobile reversed the £30 charge after some sweet talk and grovelling. (Really shouldn't need to employ these tactics though.... )

Just have the Halifax to deal with now.

27/05 Letter sent to local branch manager asking for charges to be refunded.
01/06 Reply from bank to ack. rcpt and to say complaint forwarded to Customer relations at Head Office.
22/06 Bank agreed not to charge £28.00 at the end of June but wont refund the £39. Will press for full refund asap.

sent t-mobile a letter similar to the bank templates asking for mine to be refunded because they were unlawful etc. got a phone call today saying they were refunding them becuase "i had been a good payer and it was the first time". I took this is an excuse for them having to pay out before things get serious, she said it was a one off and if i failed to pay a dd again then they would charge- i replied that if they charged me again they would get the same letter! Anyway my advice would be to write to them.
