Default Vigin Pay As You G)) Bill

Help

A few months ago I signed up for Virgin's fixed monthly dial up internet service (£14:99 per month).

Prior to the I was on pay as you go. I went through all the proceedures and was advised you internet connection has now been changed and ready to use etc.

As I thought it was a fixed fee I kept internet on for most of day.

However, 3 months ago I got a bill from BT asking for £89 worth of call to the Virgin pay as you go. I wrote to Virgin pointing out that they were in effect charging me twice (monthly fee and also pay as you go). After, 2 non-responsive letters, i.e. it was up to me to check connections- I gave up and was ready to write this off.

Just had another BT bill with a further £340 charges for Virgin Pay as you go service.

Do I have any leagal rights here- can I attempt to reclaim via small couts.

Please help, I cannot afford to pay this

Hi

If I was advised to change the dial up number I would have manually- I was advised that my internet connection was changed from PAYG to monthly package (and new number).

I have been charged twice for the same service- do I not have any legal rights?

Hi
No I have switched packages to ORANGE pay monthly.

I closed the Virgin 24/7 pay monthly account when I received the first BT bill and realised I was been charged twice. The Further BT bill has just arrived and is in relation to the total three month period when I was subscribed to Virgin 24/7

My logic (not a legal person) is that if I have been advised my internet connections have been changed and I was now ready to use 24/7 (and thus pay a fixed monthly fee)- and they had not been changed- I have been given false information resulting in over £400 worth of charges.

Are there no consumer protection laws to prevent this sort of thing happening?- which would allow me to reclaim these charges in a court of law?

Thanks

No I'm not confused

I had a Virgin PAYG dial up account.

I switched to Virgin 24/7 (fixed monthly fee of £14:99) online and after downloading stuff from Virgin website- recieved notification that 'my internet connections had been changed and was now ready to start using Virgin 24/7- so I carried on using internet.

Nearly three months after signing up I received a bill from BT which included over £85 charges to the Virgin PAYG number- related to the period after I had signed up and was paying for the Virgin 24/7 service.

I contacted Virgin and asked why I was paying them twice (PAYG charges and fixed monthly fee) pointing out I had been advised by them my internet connections had been changed and was ready to use 24/7 service). I also closed the Virgin 24/7 account and switched to another internet provider (ORANGE monthly dial-up fixed fee service).

Virgin have refused to refund these charges and the complaint is ongoing. Today I received another BT bill including over £350 further charges for Virgin PAYG number also for the 3 -month period I was subscribed to and was paying them my monthly fee.

The question I am asking is that under comsumer law do I not have any legal recourse to reclaim these charges- I followed all instruction given by Virgin and was advised my connection had been changed- this is obviously not happened and the information I was given is thus false.

I did not recieve any written communication from VIRGIN- I followed instruction given online by Virgin- presumably successfully as I recieved the message- my internet connections had been changed etc.

The question I am asking is do I have any consumer rights (legally) to reclaim this money- I need to find £600 to pay BT and do not have this money- Will OTELO advise me regarding consumer law?

OK Thanks

Had a quick look at their website and first need to write to Virgin and get 'deadlock' letter- and then will complain to OTELO.

Are there any links on this site to consumer law summaries- that I could site to strengthen my complain?
