vodafone problems

Hi all, just wanted your opinion on my problem. About 2 years ago I took out a contract with Vodafone but after about 3 or 4 months got into difficulty with payments so they canceled the service and requested the handset back with money for the full 12 months term of contract. Can they do that since I didn't get anything from that contract but 3 months service couldn't even have the phone. Any thoughts welcome

I might be mistake but i think they can actually do that as if you read the small print you will find that for the first 12 month they "lend" you the phone and you will acquire ownership only after the 12th month. i hope i am right

Well, you agreed to pay them for phone service and didn't keep your side of the bargain. I'm surprised they wanted the phone back - as s/h stock it is almost worthless.

Even so, this doesn't discharge your liability to them, and you've probably got big red footprints on your credit record noting the default. This may cause you problems later.

Unless they have started to change things normally the handset itself forms no part of the contract itself other than as a free incentive to take up the contract. I've known of people sign up to contracts just to get the free phone, then sell the phone on ebay and use their old phone with the sim and never having any problems.

I've also defaulted more than my fair share of contracts and have never been asked to return a handset. But my last contract was 2 years ago so like I said things may have changed
