Default T Mobile / Upgrade / Blackberry

Hi Guys,

In November I upgraded my T-Mobile phone to a basic Nokia Handset from a Razr.

I was never happy with the phone (for a variety of reasons) so phoned to get it changed, however I was just past the 7 day cut off point - far enough I should have read the T&C's in more detail.

However I am now in a situation where I need a Blackberry for work, I have phoned T-Mobile to see what I can do and the only way I can get a Blackberry is to take out a new contract which would obviously leave me with a Blackberry I desperatly need and a nokia phone and contract which I will not need (nor like).

As I understand it, the acqusition cost for a new customer for T-Mobile is £400 (suprising huh?) I don't see why I should buy my Blackberry from them (thus saving them £400!!!!) if they wont let me have a Blackberry as an upgrade!

I have offered to pay them for a new Blackberry, however they said they can not do it, I will have to buy a Blackberry from an idependent dealer cost c£200.

Any ideas on how I can persuade T-Mobile to retain me as a customer and give me a Blackberry (which will also mean me spending a lot more money with them on a monthly basis).

Has anyone else been in a simaliar situation? I know that they have done nothing wrong, however they are not doing anything right for me either!!!

Actually, your most sensible solution is to purchase a pre-owned T-Mobile Branded BB for around £50, and insert your T-Mobile SIM into it, then get them to add the Blackberry bolt-on (for push email) and you'll be on your way. Because so many folk find themselves needing a BB, and then just as quickly do not, the s/h price, even of seconhand models is quite low (as they're not a fashion phone!).

Tell me about it, they look like a brick!

I have been on ebay however can not find any T-Mobile second hand BB's, any suggestions Buzby as to where I could find one? I have been told by T-Mobile not to buy an unlocked one as they are not 100% that they will work 100% again.

There's no problem with using an unlocked one - the real issue is T-Mobile have hterir own set of utilities that work smoothly with their push email server and if your BB is an ex-Voda one, it will not have T-Zones and all the other stuff that make it worthwhile.

You might not find any T-Mob BB on eBay at the moment, but it is a pretty good source if you don't have a local dealer., just set up a Favourite Search for Blackberry & T-Mobile and await the emails telling you of availability. Of course, make sure the seller is reputable or Paypal is accepted with a £500 guarantee to protect you. Also T-Mobile often offer refurbs in their shops at a good price too.
