3UK Data Charges Hutchison 3G have just admitted that some customers on their X-Series Silver Plan (which provides 'unlimited' data for £5pm) are being charged almost £100 for data usage, despite is supposedly being capped at a fiver. Customers who complained were told they had exceeded their data quota and the charges were correct, however the Silver tariff's 'fair use' policy stated that any usage over 1Gb (the cap) would be dealt with. Since none of the customers even received a warning of exceeding the cap, they were miffed to receive bills for any data, over their £5 monthly fee.
Originally denying there was a problem, the company agreed there probably had been a billing error, and any bills for Silver tariff customers would be recalculated. Make sure you check your bill if you are on this tariff.
