Default Talk talk/bT line compensation

Anyone know this?
Have not got time to look into it just now but am sure someone here may have exp same probs.
Is for a freind of mine.
Recent weather took out the phone lines and phone mow been off 5 days.
He is on talk talk but is a Bt line.
I presume a claim for compensation would need to be with Talk talk who would then claim from Bt ?
I am aware that Bt pay 1 months line rental for 3 days loss of services and 2 months for 4 to 6 days.
But his contract with Bt would have ended when he moved to talk talk.
Anyone know the answer here?

You don't get any. BT's compensation scheme only applies to their own customers. If you switch to TT, they become responsible, and they do not offer compensation. You make your choice and pay your money. I stick with BT because I like the assurance of a 'proper' telco, not a virtual one.

Had more chance to look into this.
Basically Talk Talk have a couple of different contracts.
First of all you can take out their call services AND the line rental.
I saw that the Line rental is charged at 10.00 odd per month.
The other Contract allows you to use their call plans but keep your line rental with BT and pay this to them.Bt Line rental is 35 quid but dont forget it is per quarter.
So effectively not much difference......apart from when things go wrong.
Talk Talk say they will consider paying compensation only after 48 hours providing the fault is reported straight away.
Presumably they have to contact BT to intervene.
In the case of BT they agree to refund one months line rental if the phone is off for 3 days.
This moves to 2 months for 4 to 6 days.
It appears there are lots of other benefits of actually keeping the line rental contract with BT.
I was not happy when I looked at his bill.....there is one entry there for 1.50 for barring an unidentifyable number.?????????????//
He did ask for barring of calls that are made with no number displayed but no mention of the 1.50 charge.!!

With so many companies now offering cheap calls simply by entering codes its no longer needed to use the likes of talk talk.
For example I use one that allows me to call Russia for 2p a minute.....Uk mobiles for 10p a minute and local calls for 4p.....just a case of entering a 9 digit access code.
Shows how much they are making.
My telewest tarrif still charges me 40p per minute for calls to mobiles and 1.00 per minute for calls to Russia using their talk international package which you have probably guessed........costs another couple ov quid per month to subscribe to !!

Anyone want the info pm me I will be happy to let you have the details......and it covers all Countries/UK landlines and Mobiles...with a chart that gives you the exact price.

By the way Raymond...today I got a mailshot from Sky.
They are offering internet Tv and phone for 26 quid!!
8mb broadband too (I think mine is currently 10)
Now this sounds too good to be true.
I am currently paying 50 quid a month for this from Telewest........prob is there are hidden extras like Bt line connection etc.
Now We used to be on Bt so there is an old line here.
Any tips on whether it would be worth the switch ...you knowing a little more bout these things than me ?
I know your gripes with Sky from the past but looks like a tempting deal to me.
