| | Basic Account Customer | Talk Talk hell Just cancelled my contract with Talk talk last week, advisor did not say anything about cancellation fee or anything whatsoever.
Now received a letter saying that if there is any outstanding money due to contract they will bill me for it etc...
I took an 18 month contract with them after being with them for approx 6 months last summer.
It was all done over the phone I didnt sign anything.
As most people probably know they are an absolute disgrace, lack of net connection all the time. Not connecting at all, all sorts of problems as it has been for the many thousands of others in the sam boat.
Does anyone know what they will try and do now..?
I didnt mention the 18 month thing on the phone as I just told the guy i wanted out due to poor service. he made no mention whatsoever to the supposed contract.
Does anyone else have any crazy experiences to sahre with me about these fools..? |

| | Platinum Account Customer | Re: Talk Talk hell Well, you cannot walk away from an 18 month contract without good cause, and if you are still contracted to them for 12 months they can pursue you for the money you would have paid for service. You didn;t need to sign anything, your use of the service confirms your agreement.
If you can prove that they did not provide the service you expected, by numerous complaints and demanding satisfaction, you can mitigate their claim should it come to court, but it is usually best to deal in writing than on the phone. The person you called should have mentioned your commitment, but you were probably one of many so didn't really care, but that wouldn't help you. They're probably already showing you on your credit file as a defaulter, so be prepared for a slog to get them to agree to the cancellation and removal of adverse data, or YOU'll take them to court for satisfaction.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Talk Talk hell I have also previously been suckered in by TalkTalk's fancy advertising and promises of a service that will surpass what I had with BT for phone and adsl.
Being made redundant about the time they started there fancy advertising campaign made me more easily coerced into getting there service.
I signed up using there web portal service, they confirmed a effective change date for the phoneline an arbitrary date when I could "soon use the unrivalled, unlimited and completely free broadband experience"
The phone line was changed over as they promised, I received a "sorry to see you go letter from BT" and a letter from TT welcoming me to there new service and that a welcome pack with modem and all the other equipment should be with me within 28 days.
Which came and duly went. Several calls later, all of which generally ended up in me being either a)cut off b)transferred unannounced into another queue.
When I finally managed to speak to someone that could listen and speak fluent English I immediately asked for this matter to be dealt with at some sort of managerial level. It then transpired that the MAC that I had provided had not even been used to activate my DSL. The person I spoke to agreed to get the matter dealt with as a matter of utmost urgency. Two days, one month after the agreed date of the DSL going live I received a 'welcome pack' with modem, software and microfilters. I thought my problems had been solved but they had only begun.
The software they supplied flatly refused to acknowledge the existence of the modem despite it registering on my PC's connections.
Innumerate phone calls later and a call back from a 'service engineer' I was informed that the software they had supplied was most definitely to blame.
They promised to send a 'patch disk' to resolve the matter.
The 'patch disk' was just a exact duplicate of the disk I already had.
I asked them why they had sent this, and to date I have yet to receive the courtesy of a reply.
Eventually and going against there own advice I decided to reinstall the software for a previous adsl modem supplied by BT. This worked but the performance was to the say the least less than I had previously enjoyed through BT.
High "ping" times, poor download speeds, and unexpected removal of service was experienced making normal use of the internet, browsing, gaming and similar comparable to having a root canal with no anesthetic. They however did take the money very nicely until someone decided to amend the date of the collection through bank account without correctly notifying me.Twice, so two lots of bounced direct debit charges plus interest, then to add to the indiginity, they disconnected the phone without any prior warning and despite full payment being made in cash at there local Carphone Warehouse retail outlet.
Enough was enough.
One last call to the same manager regarding there so called 'customer service'. She acknowledged that they had been paid in full and in time but "an automated process" had completely disconnected my phone line and adsl which incidentally they say they could not reverse.
One phone call later and we was back on with BT's revised wireless package. The phone call was actually made at a public phone box, they said give it one day as we had phoned outside office hours and we would get broadband no later than five days.
To our amazement the phone was activated within 45 minutes of me finishing the conversation with the sales agent.
The wireless router turned up two days later and the broadband was live the same day.
I thought the whole sorry episode was behind me until today when I received a letter of court action from 'ROBINSON WAY & CO' for the staggering sum of £17. |

I have had a rough time with Talktalk and I need to take it further.

| | Basic Account Customer | Re: Talk Talk hell They are likely to put a debt collection agency called Roxburghe on to you. They are bully boys who are not interested in whether or not you owe money - they just threaten legal action or "visits from local field collection agents" I decided to leave talktalk last year - because the broadband was free - but useless. First they avoided giving a mac code - when I eventually transferred they continued to charge me for my phone service even though I was not using it. I could not get a final bill - they just continued to charge every month so eventually canceled my DD which is why despite numerous phone explaining the situation the idiots now think I owe money.
TALKTALK TREAT CUSTOMERS AND EX CUSTOMERS LIKE DIRT - Best advice is to not go there in the first place, but if you have made the mistake of joining them expect problems when you try to leave.
Good luck!! Quote:
