Vodafone contract ended. ups monthly fee?

My brothers girlfriend is impressed with this site and now she has a problem and I offered to ask for her.

She has had a vodafone contract for 14 months now. It was for about £12.99 a month but then after 12 months contract ended. The new monthly charge is about twenty something.

I understand it isn't there job to remind you when a contract ends but surely she has signed up to a contract with a monthly charge of £12.99 they can't just up it once finished no notice? can they....

I think the contract just carries on, if they want to change the terms you have a certian ammount of time to cancel usally.

I would ring them and give them grief, they might agree to change it to keep you as a customer if not just leave and get a new contract elsewhere, you can move your number

Assuming she has a 12month contract, both parties are locked into the stated price regime for that period. Once ended, either party can modify the agreement - which usually means it either continues unchanged, or the customer is given notice of an increase - this can be by bill stuffer, or by being noted on the bill itself. The customer has to be given 30 days notrice of the change, which ties in with the 30 days notice of an intention to cancel - you can exit with no problem before the new charges apply. (And have your old number transferred ('ported' in the parlance) to a new provider).

If they have not provided notice of the change, your GF can challenge the new fee, but they more than likely did, and the information was missed. In this case, give immediate notice of termination, or request a PAC code to release the number (which signifies the same thing).
